Claman Height awakened. He had no ticket because he was conducting the train. It barreled around the bends with a velocity bordering on the speed of sound. With fear coursing through his veins, he knew that he had to find a way to slow this rocket on rails down to a proper speed. He summoned the attendants. No response. His fellow conductor was not in the control room with him. Panic colored his black skin.

She was sleeping. When she woke up, her smile revealed dazzling white teeth. Of course she needed no ticket as a member of the Space Force, but she couldn’t remember how she’d gotten on the train. As the nuclear powered locomotive rumbled over the lunar surface, she backed into a drab olive blanket, dread creeping over her face.

The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Len and his wife Salia had renovated the space and restored it to be a fully functional, state of the art vacation home in Newark, Delaware. On their anniversary in October, the crisp autumn air met them, drove them. Salia walked to the window and blew out the last candle. Len called for the virtual assistant, Simon, to turn off the music. He picked up the wine bottle and glasses and ventured over to the sink. He put the wine back in the chiller.
