No, that’s not a typo in my title. This article is not about Godzilla vs Kong, the new blockbuster in theaters and on HBO Max at the moment. This is 5 weird pieces of trivia regarding the 1962 original King Kong vs Godzilla, the Toho feature that was retrofitted for American audiences in 1963 by a shameless huckster named John Beck. With the release of Godzilla vs Kong, I couldn’t resist watching the rubber suit version.

Song Review: 'Peaches' by Justin Bieber ft Daniel Caesar and Giveon.
Never look at the top of the charts for anything other than the most mediocre and easy to ignore songs on the planet. Don’t get me wrong, plenty of great songs have overcome the masses to make it to number one. But, unfailingly, when one takes the time to look at the song that has risen to the top of the charts, that song tends to be remarkable for being unremarkable. Generally, the best selling song is the one that is bland enough to please a lot of people all at once.

Movie Review: 'Godzilla vs Kong'
As part of my preparation for the new movie, Godzilla vs Kong, I decided to rewatch one of my least favorite movies of the last few years, Godzilla King of the Monsters. I wrote about that experience and how miserable it was. Godzilla King of the Monsters can barely be favorably compared to a Michael Bay Transformers movie. It’s just as incomprehensible as a Transformers movie but thanks to star Millie Bobby Brown, it’s slightly more tolerable than a Transformers movie.

Movie Review: Godzilla King of the Monsters
Godzilla King of the Monsters is a miserable moviegoing experience. The movie is loud and bleak and chaotic and it’s populated by characters who are impossible to invest in, aside from Millie Bobby Brown; and that’s more about her as an actress than her character. Even if you think you are going just for the big monster fights between Godzilla and a coterie of big bads, you will find yourself miserably making your way through the muck of waste of space human characters only to find loud, unimpressive fights on par with the robot fights of Transformers.

Movie Review: 'Shiva Baby'
Shiva Baby is like watching an anxiety attack in progress. That’s not a negative. The fact that the movie so well embodies what it feels like to seemingly have the world crashing in around you, unable to breathe or escape, is impressive. As someone who has had his fair share of panic attacks and anxiety, I related deeply to Shiva Baby in tone if not in the perspective of the lead character, Danielle, played by Rachel Sennott.

Movie Review: 'The Unholy'
The Unholy is a wildly frustrating movie. The film is quite good in so many ways and quite silly and impossible in others, thus why it is so frustrating. Star Jeffrey Dean Morgan is so interesting, effortlessly charismatic and has that kind of shambling, messy, handsomeness where going unshaven could be lazy or a legit fashion choice. Because of Morgan’s appeal, I wanted The Unholy to succeed. Sadly, the silly is too silly for the movie to survive.

Actor Cary Elwes has had a strange career. Pegged as a leading man coming off of his breakthrough performance in The Princess Bride, Elwes never popped as a leading man after that film went down in history as one of the most delightful family movies of all time. After that came many high profile roles in big movies but Elwes receded into character actor roles rather quickly for a man of his leading man good looks and proper English diction.

Movie Review: 'Nobody'
Hutch is a rather diffident fellow, a serious normie, on the surface. Hutch's life rarely changes from day to day. He has a routine like clockwork, a seriously boring marriage, on the brink of collapse from the weight of apathy, and two normie kids. It appears, again, on the surface, to be a painfully normal existence. And yet, something in Hutch’s manner causes you to wonder about him. His workouts are rather intense for a man whose life is spent behind a bean counter desk.
