Starting Over Part 4
Ella hadn't seen Rio in a week. David had tried to send her flowers but they remained on the porch and withered away. Ella went over and knocked on Rio's door softly; three times a day she did. Rio never even cracked the door a bit or looked out of the windows. Ella could only hope that Rio was taking care of herself. David went to Ella's house every day that week to ensure Ella was taking care of herself.

Starting Over Part 3
Ella and Rio sat at the table in Ella's kitchen. They decided they both preferred cherry crumble pie after they had eaten the whole blueberry pie they made. When 5 o'clock rolled around, Rio asked "can we make another?" She hadn't had so much fun in a very long time. Ella was elated, she loved to bake. Sometimes her and Charlie would bake all day just as her and Rio had done. When their partner would leave town for work, Charlie would sleep over and they would bake cookies, cupcakes, macrons, and of course, pies.

Starting Over Part 2. Top Story - February 2025. Content Warning.
Be advised, this piece includes some graphic descriptions of abuse. Ella has lived in this small town for 5 years now. In those 5 years she made 2 friends. Charlie was the one neighbor to greet her and bring her a pie on the day she moved in. Ella nearly cried at the gesture, she thought it was so sweet and neighborly. Charlie was the one and only friend she had until their partner beat them to death. At Charlie's funeral, Ella met David. David and Charlie were childhood friends; he had just moved back into town the day before Charlie died. He hadn't even gotten to see Charlie before their death. He was devastated and often sought out Ella for a shoulder to cry on. They quickly became best friends in the months following Charlie's death. Ella could see herself settling down with David; it would be so easy. But ever since Ella was in middle school, she knew she was a lesbian. David figured, but still tried to give it a shot and kiss her one night anyway after too many vodka cranberries.

The Language of Love
There's nothing like a toasty cup of hot cocoa. Ever since I was a kid, it's been my favorite warm drink. I remember at one point, I would drink it even though it was 100 degrees outside. There's just something about that warm feeling that engulfs your whole body.

Starting Over Part 1. Content Warning.
I sit on my bed and look around my new bedroom. It reminds me of my bedroom back home when I was a teenager. Simple, plain. Just as I am. I lay back, reminiscing about my childhood, until a knock on the door startles me out of my daydreams.

Soup For Life
I love soup. I love eating soup and I love making it. I feel like a witch, working at her couldron when I make soups. Ever since I was a kid, I would have at least 5 bowls of soup. I would eat it until it felt like my belly would burst. I still do, but usually 2-3 bowls of soup is enough to get me belly-bursting full.

"I Feel Infinite"
When I think about a book that changed me, I think of several different books. But one that stands out is The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Maybe it's cliché to say this book changed me; when I tell people it's one of my top 5 favorite books, they usually roll their eyes at me. But this book brings me comfort. Every time I read it, I learn something new, realize something new.

My First
When I was in elementary school, we had some free time. I had been daydreaming most of the day about my dog, Buddy. He was such a good boy. I was dreaming that he had run off and found a girl dog and they fell in love and then she had puppies. I decided to sit down and write a story. I made a little book out of it too! I was so proud of my work.

Chicken Noodle Soup is the Best Cure
I wait impatiently for my phone to ping as I stare at it. I realize I haven't blinked in a while and my eyes are dry. She never takes this long to message back. God, she's bored with me already. NO. No, she just hasn't looked at her phone. I decide this is stupid, just waiting like this, so I get up to make myself some dinner.

C.A.L.M
I learned this trick from Jane the Virgin and loved it. When Jane was feeling really frustrated or upset, her grandmother told her to remain CALM. Think of things that keep her calm or make her happy. Grandma's really do know everything. Whenever I'm feeling frantic or frustrated or any big feeling, I just think C.A.L.M. Thinking of things that keep me calm. Because what a neat trick.

A Good Ol' Classic. Top Story - September 2022.
It was a wonderfully rainy day; all day, it poured then drizzled, poured and drizzled. I love the rain. Every day, I praise myself for making the move to Seattle Washington. It's been 8 months and I couldn't be happier.
