Conquer oneself

To seize fate by the throat. In one's life, who doesn't want to succeed? Who doesn't want to achieve something remarkable? Remember Einstein put forward a formula about success: success = hard work + proper method + less nonsense. But I think there's one thing missing from his formula: ego. Therefore, these "flowers and thorns" are "self" in a broad sense, and overcoming self means overcoming backward reality. Yes, the self is not floating, but real. If we do not conquer it, we will see nothing and do nothing. Isn't it? If Romain Rolland can't overcome the pain of losing a loved one, can he?
