The effects of social media regarding special occasions and social events
Do you ever those moments when you’re doing something cool and then either you or someone else goes “Wait, wait, wait, I gotta put this on my snap.” or, “Let me just get this real quick for the gram.”? I imagine you do and it’s not an uncommon occurrence Millennials-Gen Z, and sometimes Boomers, once they figure out how to use their devices, they love to take pictures of everything.

We Need to Talk About Money
There is a stigma for people not well off when it comes to talking about money. It’s okay for millionaires to brag about what they’ve got, but if a poor person – relative to first world standards – discusses their bank account, they are met with judgement and unwarranted advice on how to not be poor.

Showcasing Cinematic Black Trauma
I recently was browsing through the selection of films on Netflix and I decided to watch a film called Mississippi Burning. It is seemed like an interesting film, so I added it to the list and began to watch. And from the beginning, I witness three men slain in cold blood, two Jewish, one Black. The reason being is that the two Jewish are “nigger lovers” and the other is a “nigger”. At the hands of racist white police officers, these boys are killed in a very gruesome fashion and the blood and guts are not spared from being seen on screen. From this scene, I am uneasy and brace myself for a film that will show more gruesome suffering and harm done onto black bodies. I get to about 30 minutes in a witness a lynching and burning of the crime scene, and it is at this point I decide I cannot watch this film; seeing such images will not be good for my psyche, so I skip to the end where the men responsible are brought to justice.

Where Are You From? The Question That Triggers an Identity Crisis.
Born in Zimbabwe. Raised in Birmingham, England. Moved for university. Briefly moved countries. Not having stayed still in this wonderful life has meant sometimes, I don’t know how to answer the simple question of where I’m from. The answer I give, may or may not be satisfying enough for the recipient, therefore, I’m forced to give a life story on some occasions or sometimes briefly panic upon hearing the simple phrase, “where are you from?”. It all comes from the concept of identity and the role it plays in our lives. For some it is simpler, then for the remaining lot it is a deep dive into our lives and what makes up our identity.

With a First-Class Honours in Film Studies, he's my go to tech guy and my creative companion.
