Queen of Versailles Lacks Depth
You have to even ask yourself: "why even put this show on, let alone put it on Broadway"! Opening on November 9th, this horrific show about glutinous Jackie Siegel, a Florida wanna be socialite was first a documentary back in 2012. Worse yet, Lauren Greenfield's documentary was award winning... so much for critiquing talent!

Theater Review.
Touring companies a lot of times are able to emulate the energy of the shows that once played on Broadway. I have seen many great musicals at the Morristown Performing Arts Center; "South Pacific" and "Murder Mystery" to name a few. The success of these two that I just mentioned had great acting, direction and fantastic staging.

Moulin Rouge.
I revisited "Moulin Rouge" after many years of it running on Broadway with great success. Like many great musicals, "Moulin" has great staging presence. Set to a nightclub, the gaudy reds and velour stands out when you first walk into the theater.

BeetleJuice
"Beetlejuice" at the newly renovated Palace Theatre is a fun musical for the whole family. Like "Back To The Future", this show brings in audiences of all ages. At the matinee I attended the theater was packed with adults and wide eyed children.

"Other"
"Other" at the Greenwich House is written and performed by Ari'el Stachel. The Greenwich House is known for some great solo acts... Eddie Izzard, for one was outstanding and extended at Greenwich several times. "Other" too was a very interesting and thought provoking eighty minutes.

Limon Dance Company. Animal Farm.
The Limon Dance Company (with a ' over the O) at the Joyce had two performances within an hour and twenty minutes. The first, "The Emperor Jones" was a ballet intertwined with modern dance. The performance was innovative that kept coming at the audience.

Waiting for Godot
If you like modern theater, you may very well like this version of "Waiting For Godot" at The Hudson Theatre. Like "A Dolls House" at the same theater, Jamie Lloyd put "Godot" in the modern. Like Ibsen's "Doll House", Lloyd takes Beckett's play and brings it into today's times... no visible tree, only a large cone-like set (Soutra Gilmour). The set to me signify s endless time.

Rolling Thunder
Musical documentaries are always fun to watch especially when they are enlightening. "Rolling Thunder" at New World Stages gives us a flavor of not only the Vietnam war, but what America was like before, during and after the war.

Paul Young, Wang Chung,John Waite, Rick Springfield
NJPAC in Newark, New Jersey was pretty crowded last evening to watch and witness some formidable artist of yesteryear. Opening the show with Paul Young who wasn't originally on the card for the evening, played four songs concluding with his hit "Everytime You Go Away".
