A Long Unknown Backstory to My Grandparents' Nuptials
The above photo of Nonni and Nonno's wedding day was taken in Providence, Rhode Island at the Church of the Holy Ghost. Nonni and Nonno are seated with their witnesses on July 8, 1932. The bridesmaid and best man are Jenny and "Espanol," but there is a previously unknown backstory to this ceremony. But let's first explore how this New York waiter and came to meet his Providence based bride.

Regardless of the evolution, a movement has begun among alumni to rename the field in honor of a giant who they credit with putting Somers Football on the map.

Only putting up first runs, such a run shortage is never good, but these dogs played strong up the middle - especially at short.

A Big Day for Lewisboro Lightning at Rogers Park in Danbury
Lightning vs Fairfield Video The Lewisboro Lightning 9u baseball team has been at it since January. The spring, summer and fall league included, the boys made the finals at Rogers Field on November 5, and Coach Joseph Maharaj put the prospects in words his young players could definitely understand.“This is our last chance for a championship,” the coach conveyed, and from the results, the youngsters comprehended.

Somers Slideshow 1 The Royal Family Going back to the turn of the 19th Century, Somers was a Democratic stronghold, and the power structure was concentrated into what was known as the Royal Family. Long established with land and money, the Brady’s were the most influential of these families and control of the town and government was the order of the day. So as the watershed seizure and diversion of the railroad caused decline in the town, the Royals took advantage of the status quo for their own enrichment.

Mercy Win for Highway Hammers Still Makes for a Fun Night for Both Teams
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons below A&S Photos On Wednesday June 19, the Highway Hammers took on Prime Pub in Men’s Softball, and by the 5th inning, the game was decidedly going in the favor of the highwaymen. Even so, Tommy Deagan took his time in the box and methodically leveled the dirt. Not going unnoticed by Al Tiso on the rubber, the Prime Pub pitcher responded in kind. “Will you get in the box already,” Tiso couldn’t hold back. So was the terse little exchange some B-League gamesmanship at Reis Park on a sweltering summer night.

AIM Construction was not only hoping to get back to .500 but start another run for glory. “The last two years we took the D and C league championships,” said Player/Manager Emil Napolitano, and on this day, Hudson Valley Bone hoped to get in the way.
