At the outset, though, the express was definitely not running. “It’s so easy to get down in a position like that, and say, I guess we don’t have it tonight,” said Coach Tom Rizzotti of the 2-0 game deficit. But this team’s real itinerary is nonstop, and their true form eventually took hold.

Three versus six, the Wolves bust out with a first half goal and had visions of the semis. But the second half had the home team forcing a tie, so overtime would raise the roof for one team and crush the other in despair.

Molly Gallagher Wall isn’t Enough to Beat Lakeland Again

Instead, Molly Gallagher put up 19 saves, and the Wolves earned their first ever victory versus the Hornets. So with the rematch on Saturday October 5, Gallagher gave Lakeland fits again. But this time there was a blemish, and one was all it took.

So the outcome was far from being tough to take.

On Sunday October 13, Somers hosted the school’s annual Big Red Cross Country Invitational, and while ongoing construction could be distracting, the disruption didn’t take away from the more important sights, according to Mia Sandolo. “I like how the team is looking,” said the senior, and the imagery was even better on the run.

But that was not the case on this day. Instead, the volleyball exhibition/fundraiser was meant to turn sadness into joy and build community across the two schools.

Somers Leaves John Jay on the Bubble with 1-0 Victory

No recognition for the home team, Coach Brian Lanzetta joked with players that Somers wasn’t even “on the bubble.” But the outcome gave the Tuskers the last laugh and a new motivating designation.

Somers Holds on for 5-4 Win versus John Jay East Fishkill
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons On Columbus Day, the girls soccer team was up early and John Jay East Fishkill joined the Tuskers for some soccer. At the high school, the Patriots didn’t let a little less sleep bother them and jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 36:02. But extra time on the snooze button wasn’t really a factor for Somers, because playing from behind never looks at the clock, according to Julia Arbelaez.
