The Two Killings Of Sam Cooke is a documentary by Kelly Duane that is emotionally resonant but ultimately underwhelming. In essence, it rehashes the story of Cooke’s death and how it was shrouded in and remains shrouded in mystery. That is the first and obvious killing.

Life is about numbers. That is the mantra of the man featured in the fascinating Netflix documentary, The Black Godfather. Like the fictional character of the simpleton, Forrest Gump, who came in to contact with major figures of history in the film of the same same, Clarence Avant is a man who name and influence span several decades and takes in many famous faces. Unlike Gump, Avant was no simpleton.

The apprentice goes on to become the most successful toy inventor in the world, whilst his former boss spirals into depression and debt after his wife dies and his daughter grows up and leaves.

Fatal Deceit - review (Netflix)
Brief synopsis: After a woman splits from her estranged husband, he is reported killed in a car accident. Their daughter, who blames the mother not only for the split but also for her father’s death, pulls away from her, becoming reclusive. When a new neighbour helps to bring the daughter out of her shell, the woman lets her daughter go on a camping trip with the neighbour. The daughter disappears.

Brief synopsis: several extremely dangerous terrorists are captured and put into a secure prison on a space station. There, they are interrogated for five years. When a crew, including a new doctor, go for a routine monthly check-up of the prisoners, the prisoners escape and the crew must fight to prevent the terrorist crashing the space station into Earth and starting a third world war.

Over The Moon
Brief synopsis: a young girl is told a story by her mother about the moon goddess who lives on the moon awaiting the return of her true love. When the girl’s mother dies, it is just her and her father. When, after a few years, her father meets another woman and begins a new relationship, the girl, not wanting to have a stepmother, decides to build a space ship and look for the moon goddess.
