Continuation of "The Power of Painting in Year 3000"
After experiencing a handful of turbulent months and a short period of grounding, it was time to move onto the next step. Answering the call to heroic adventure is not an easy feat, I guess it’s just as they say: it gets uncomfortable before real growth happens. It's quite ironic though, no matter how much hell Ako put me through I just couldn't help but love him. I made sure to wake up early today and soak in as much sun as possible. Meditated. Spent 30 minutes doing Yoga because I honestly don’t know what is ahead of me. I wrote a farewell letter to my lover in case I don’t ever make it back. Not that I would want to leave her, but sometimes we need to drop what is important to us for the greater good of humanity. *BZZZ BZZZ BZZZ* Ahh.. There’s the usual incessant buzzing of my phone.

Grandma's Lap; The Monkey and the Crocodile
I would sit on Grandma’s lap every night that I was at her house and listen to her read this story. “The Monkey and The Crocodile”: by Paul Galdone, a retelling of a classic Jataka tale from India. The original concept of the story is based on companionship and the correct timing of learning how to let go. The story done by Galdone really goes ham in the cunning trickery of two animals trying to outsmart each other. This overarching factor really made both Grandma and I laugh a lot, no matter how many times we read it. No matter how prickly the hairs on Grandma’s legs were, I always found warmth in being her baby grandson during story time. I was sitting on her lap up until I was 14 years old actually; Poor Grandma, having to deal with such a big, heavy, baby boy. Great, strong Grandma Marge. Nothing stopped her from connecting to her grandchildren. Listening to her read this story in my youth (before 14) inspired me to read on my own.

The Power of Painting in Year 3000
It's the year 3000 and sheesh, did THAT escalate. Back before time travelling was part of the equation; the human race dealt with racial equality issues, global controversy, Jeff Besos and Elon Musk competing for world domination, white supremacy (but I guess that falls under racial equality issues) and people murdering each other for money. Nowadays if you’re human, you’re lucky to be alive and you fall under one category: the human race. The thing is, I was born in the age where humans caused problems for each other and through time travel along with a fated meeting I am now in year 3000 with a mission to save the human race. Before I get into the details of that I need to explain the current disposition of the world.

" The wonder before my eyes creates good vibes"
I love to create mixed media paintings that refer to me moving in a space. The more I make, the more I realize how important movement is and how it reads in the composition of a painting. The series of work I've been exploring has elements of collage: I will often find myself using fiskars scissors to cut paper or wrappers from kombucha bottles and adhere those parts to the substrate. It is important for me to collage because there are certain colors or effects found in paper that I cannot recreate by mixing paint. Each painting begins outside of the studio, either walking or riding my bike by a space that calls to me. I collect visual information, observe frequently which opens a space for conversation with the locale and the feel the energy of that place. After I've finished absorbing and experiencing, I bring the vision to the studio and begin sketching what I saw, and felt.

Mama taught me about sacrifice
Mama taught me about sacrifice. When I was young, my mother always found me riddled with illness. I was born with asthma and was prone to any flu that came my way. I caught pneumonia at one point and bronchitis at another. Sometimes just being out in a cold place made me feel sick too. I tried my best to fit in with other kids in my class but because I kept getting so sick, I felt that I never had any time to play with the other children as much as I'd like to. At the end of the day, all that mattered was getting enough rest so I could come to a state of normalcy. I had to because,
