The Gift the Horses Give Us
I am outside on an unusual task at an unusual time. Horse lunch was served hours ago, and Kasper and Emma have just finished picking at the last danglers of hay in their nylon nets. Emma’s net lays disheveled in the paddock sand, since apparently horses can magically undo fairly stiff quick links hung on eyebolts.

Teeswater Wool: an Adventure in Rare Fiber
The serenity of raising a fiber flock calls to me like nothing else ever has. As a fiber artist, the idea of knowing exactly where my fiber came from–how it was raised, how it was harvested, how it made the environment healthier–has brought me such excitement and joy that I have made it my life’s goal. Among my favorite wools are alpaca and angora rabbit (I am a sucker for all things soft).

Forgetting
If you could help a criminal get away with something big for twenty thousand dollars, would you do it? That was the question I dealt with as I stood in my little shop, surrounded by my talismans and my herbs and my medicines and my incense and my black cat, Leona, and three burly men in suits.

Harmony
The barnyard was full of many creatures. There were the farm cats, the plow horse, the milk cow, the donkey, the chickens, the dog, and the pigs. And of course, there were many mice. Dear December Liv OR; Small Things to Make 2021 a Good Year
Dear December 2021 Liv, Do you remember the calendar you bought for 2020? It was September of 2019 and you were visiting a friend in Grand Marais, gallivanting about the breathtaking North Shore in Minnesota. Whilst perusing that endearing little Drury Lane Books store, you happened upon this collection of images of the place you loved–Lake Superior. What better way to get to see so many portraits of that stunning landscape every day than with a wall calendar? And you knew you needed a better way to display your craft show dates and times–it was perfect!

Dancing the Shim Sham
Hello, Swing Dance Club If you were a part of the Swing Dance Club at St. Olaf College, your greatest duty was to insist that anyone you met who wasn’t in the club absolutely without a doubt HAD to come and try swing dancing. It wasn’t a written rule, it wasn’t an oral contract, the organizers didn’t even tell you to do it; you just did it. Because swing dancing was just that SUPER DUPER AWESOME AND AMAZING.

To Go for a Walk in the Woods. Top Story - July 2020.
When I was in college… …I fulfilled my work study in the Art Department’s Media Room. There I was surrounded by technology, old and new, that opened my eyes to the incredible world of filmography and photography. So when I took my New Media class, I was already familiar with the stunning and powerful Canon 7D that we checked out for the video art portion of the course.
