Somebody's Someone - Chapter Six
The yellow glow of the lanterns still illuminated the quiet street when the first patrol car arrived, followed closely by a second. The atmosphere, which had held an air of festivity just moments ago, now felt heavy with tension. Two officers stepped out—one in his mid-40s, with a square jaw and a rigid posture suggesting he hadn’t blinked since boot camp. The other was younger and leaner, holding his belt like a shield, as if authority was something to be gripped tightly. Their names were stitched across their chests: Hollins and Greaves.

Somebody's Someone - Chapter Five
The boutique door clicked shut behind Yennia, and the crisp fall air wrapped around her like a breath held too long. She glanced down at her phone, scrolling with purpose as her heels tapped against the pavement toward her car.

The Mirror Hotel
The Mirror Hotel was born from Aurelian’s need—not desire. It waited like a predator for the moment he fractured, when something inside him shifted just enough to let light pierce the dark. It lived in the liminal spaces of his grief, where reality blurred with dream—a place both familiar and unsettling, shaped by the memories he couldn’t bear to hold.

Somebody's Someone - Chapter Four
It's a beautiful, cool fall evening, and a soft breeze stirs the amber leaves across the brick-paved walkways of Willow Cove Commons, a cozy yet vibrant shopping center where neighbors gather to admire window displays and laughter echoes from café patios. Lanterns strung between the storefronts cast a warm glow on the boutique's expansive glass front, compelling passersby to pause, engage, and step inside for a final look at the day's finds.

Somebody's Someone - Chapter Three
Yennia found it impossible to completely cut off Zak—no matter how far she moved or how well Khand treated her. There was something about Zak that kept him tethered to her. He wasn’t gentle, but he knew how to play it cool. His slick talk and confidence had just enough charm to make her second-guess what she already knew. Even when he manipulated her, his words sounded like concern; and despite knowing better, she didn’t always act on it. Khand saw through her behavior. He never confronted her outright, but he understood: whenever she ghosted him, it was because Zak had slipped back into her life. She would vanish for a few days, barely respond to texts, then reappear as if nothing had happened. Khand learned not to chase those silences—they always carried Zak's shadow.

Somebody's Someone - Chapter Two
Day by day, Khand felt the grip of his feelings loosening. He realized that, despite how present he had been, Yennia had never truly prioritized him. So, he began to live for himself. He went out more, laughed a little louder, and met new people. He started to feel a bit lighter. One evening, while hanging out with his brother and his brother's girlfriend, they mentioned a friend he should meet—Zahra. At first, Khand hesitated; his heart still felt the echoes of Yennia. But after some convincing and arm-twisting from the couple, he agreed. His brother's girlfriend reached out to Zahra on Khand's behalf, and they ended up talking on her phone. After a brief conversation, Khand gave her his number. Over the next few weeks, they talked and decided it was time to meet. Their introduction was effortless: they exchanged genuine smiles, engaged in easy conversation, and felt a spark of curiosity. In that moment, Khand realized he wasn't dwelling on his loss with Yennia; instead, he was captivated by the possibilities that lay ahead with Zahra. It felt as though this was the day they had both anticipated their whole lives, and from that moment on, the match was made—it was just the two of them. Meanwhile, Yennia's life was unraveling. The man she was so attached to was mistreating her more openly, and she had lost her job because of him. Her finances were dwindling, leaving her with just a few hundred dollars. In a familiar panic, she dialed Khand's number. He didn’t answer.

Somebody's Someone - Chapter One
The story between Yennia and Khand is marked by emotional complexity and quiet heartbreak. What began as a friendship gradually evolved into a situationship characterized by one-sided devotion, blurred boundaries, and unspoken love that lingered for years. Khand's deep affection for Yennia was steady and unwavering, while Yennia leaned on him not out of romantic desire, but for comfort, support, and escape. This connection, both painful and persistent, revealed itself in cycles of closeness and distance, apologies and silence, always simmering beneath the surface of something that was almost, but never quite more.
