The Way We Think: Common Idioms We Use
We have powerful thoughts. Sometimes, when we get mad, we start thinking about phrases that we have heard before and we may yell them out, post them on social media, however we need to express those thoughts. But most of the time, the thoughts we have are usually sayings that we have heard and have stored in our memories. Self-expression is important. There are many proverbs and idioms as they are called but I’ll name the important ones.

The Absence Of Love In The World
Back in moma’s day, there was so much love. Everybody could eat at each other’s house. Everybody knew each other’s family. If a fight broke out, you would fight and make up in a few minutes time. Children respected their parents, they knew not to be in grown folk’s conversation and the “look”, meaning if moma gave u a certain look, you knew to get somewhere and sit down, meant something.

Who am I? Weird question, right? But who we are is what is defined by the decisions we make, our attitudes, our daily routines, and the decisions we make and have made. Identity is not necessarily the color of your skin or your age or even how you look. It is all about the way you feel about yourself. Some people forget who they are and are not true to themselves.

We Get In Our Feelings Sometimes
Sometimes, we can really get in our feelings. And the thing is, people misunderstand that. They think, oh he/she is being mean, but they don’t know why. When people say that, its not personal. But people take it out of context. It could mean any number of things. A loved one passed away many years ago and we still dwell on what happened to that person.

Why are people so quick to judge? You don’t know how someone arrived at the current point in their life. Some people are misunderstood. Everything is not always as it seems. Everyone in prison or jail isn’t guilty and as they say, “everything crying holy aint holy.” Just because someone is locked up doesn’t exactly mean they are guilty. Crimes are committed every day and sometimes innocent people go to jail just by being in the wrong place at the wrong time or guilt by association.

I often wonder what gives people these concepts that they have in their minds. I mean, we all have beliefs and all but sometimes, people just have no clarity in what they think. We all know the sky is blue but that’s not what I mean. Think before you speak is something I really wish people would do instead of blurting out the first thing that comes to mind, but of course, we all know that won’t happen.

We're All Different
We should not make life a comparison game. But we do. I am guilty of it myself. Social status is race related now. People do not make it about income, like they should. They feel that if you are a certain race, you have access to better opportunities. It is a stereotype that has stuck in our minds for so long, it is like a tape recording that is we play repeatedly. I call it the race card. Some people call it that too and say that they got the race card pulled on them.

It's Not All About You
Some people are so high-minded. I call it a God-complex. I say that because some people feel that they are superior to others. Its pure selfishness. Some people need to realize that its not all about them. It’s about others as well. What gets me is this “if it wasn’t for me factor.” Well guess what? There are a lot of people that are thankful that it was you but there is no need to throw things up in people's face as a constant reminder that you helped someone. That’s upsetting.

Facebook: Social Media or Soap Opera?
Social media. What was meant for good, like communicating with friends and family has now become a complete attention-seeker and competition. Some people feel the need to post their every action on Facebook. People go Facebook live for any and everything. Every action does not require a reaction, and, as the old saying goes, if you do not have anything nice to say, do not say anything at all. Going online cussing each other out and I am a better woman than her or I am a better man than him. Come on ya’ll, really? Even if that is true, everything is not meant to be put on Facebook.

Freddy Krueger: The Master of Nightmares
Freddy Krueger is the scariest yet best horror villains of all time. The first movie was made in 1984, which happens to be the same year was born. I saw the movie in 1992. I was 9 years old. I was scared to go to sleep, even scared to go to the bathroom. I think I used the bathroom on myself that night. I have the first Nightmare On Elm Street movie on DVD in my house. I was completely terrified of a man with claws that kills people in their sleep. For some strange reason, at a flea market once, I bought a poster of him. What in the world did I do that for? Every night, I was convinced that he was going to jump out of that poster at any minute.

The 3 Letter Word: I Love You
I believe that love is very difficult. I love you is easy to say. There are people that meet and say its love at first sight. There are so many love stories that I see on tv that I absolutely admire. There was this couple. They met in a laundromat. I think he was single. He said, I need someone nice. Her husband happened to be an alcoholic. She left her husband. Well, they ended up getting married. They have been married 55 years. I thought to myself, that is amazing. Another story. It was on Facebook. There was a couple, aged 105 and 102 I believe. 86 years of marriage. They are still in their right minds and their secret was: love.

Mental Illness Is Real
Mental illness is something no one wants to talk about. Its real. Some people are ashamed of it, do not want to talk about it and get laughed at it. It is no laughing matter. People take their lives in behind humility and shame. Some people suffer in silence. It is sad when people feel like they have no one to talk to but unfortunately, that’s how things are these days. People hide their feelings for fear of being called crazy and sometimes fear of being called stupid or fear of losing friends.
