It was supposed to be a peaceful weekend getaway for four friends, one cabin, and no cell service. Cabin 13 was tucked deep within the Old Pine Forest, surrounded by fog-drenched trees and silence so thick it felt like it pressed against your ears.

The Comments Weren’t from Humans And They Were About Me
I only meant to post a short horror story. That’s it. Something creepy, late-night inspired, nothing more. It was called “The Girl in the Mirror Smiled First.” Just a simple tale about a girl who notices her reflection behaving… oddly. I’ve never liked having my picture taken. Not because I’m self-conscious or anything. I just never saw the point. Life was for living, not documenting. At least, that’s what I told people. Truthfully, I hated seeing myself frozen in time, like each photo held a version of me I couldn’t recognize.

I don't remember falling asleep. One minute, I was staring at the ceiling, the soft hum of my fan blending with the occasional siren echoing outside.
