The Man Who Watches Me Sleep, But Only When I Forget to Lock the Window

I thought the tapping on my window was the wind… until I saw the fingerprints. And then I found the video.

I live on the third floor of a quiet apartment building. The kind of place where the neighbors mind their business and nothing exciting ever happens.

Until a week ago.

It started with a tapping sound at night. Light. Rhythmic. Always at 2:14 a.m. I assumed it was wind or maybe some loose branch knocking against the window. But I didn’t bother checking.

Then, one night, I forgot to close the curtains.

At 2:14 a.m., I woke up, not from the sound, but from a presence. That strange feeling that you’re being watched. I sat up and looked toward the window.

Nothing.

The tapping had stopped.

But in the morning, when sunlight hit the glass, I saw it.

Fingerprints.

Greasy. Human. On the outside of the window.

Again, I live on the third floor.

The next night, I locked the window, shut the curtains, and stayed awake.

At exactly 2:14 a.m., the tapping started.

It didn’t stop until 2:25 a.m.

When I opened the curtains in the morning, I found a single Polaroid photo stuck to the outside of the glass.

It was a picture of me sleeping.

I don’t own a Polaroid camera.

Panicked, I installed a security camera in my room and aimed it at the window.

That night, I fell asleep with the camera recording.

At 2:14 a.m., nothing woke me.

But when I checked the footage the next morning, my hands shook so badly I nearly dropped my phone.

The video showed my curtains slowly opening on their own.

Then a face appeared. Not just outside the window, inside the room.

Pale. Thin. Eyes wide and unblinking.

He stood there for eleven minutes.

Then crawled back out through the window.

No sound. No struggle. Just vanishing.

I showed it to the police. They said it was edited.

No signs of break-in. No evidence. Nothing

But the man keeps coming.

Every night I forget to lock the window, I find a new photo of myself sleeping.

The last one wasn’t just me in bed.

It showed my body, with a hand reaching out of the closet behind me.
