Shrimp for Christmas
It’s all right, dear. You can skip the ham this Christmas. The goose, and turkey, and whatever else, too. Unless you want to hand out a feast to the forest creatures? Lady Bountiful meets Father Christmas? Hey, you do you, my dear, but there’s already a lot of holiday spirits running amok; if you wish to aim for one of our seats with everything else on your plate, then by all means, carry on. But I would submit that you can strike Chief Cook and Bottle Washer off the list.

The Beverage of Choice
Let me put down my mug of hot cocoa to better have a chat with you. Want some? Sure! I’ve got plenty. I just stocked up before you arrived, it’s a lovely trip into the country. Well, yes, I do live in the country, but there’s “country,” and there’s Country. I live in a dinky town surrounded by farms. It’s very different to live on one of the farms, with only other farms a good long walk away, as your neighbors.

Museum Obscura. Top Story - December 2025.
I have to be careful. Very, very careful. I should know, I built the darn thing. I was using the small unit today. I’d tried with the big one, personally going back to purchase, but the stubborn ass wouldn’t sell. Didn’t trust me, didn’t trust my motive.

Coyote and The Border
“You want me to do WHAT??” Loki shook his head, glaring at the Creator. “Look, I don’t know what you’re getting at, but I didn’t think you’d be unwise enough to foist this off on Coyote. Just because I turned you down, this is your Plan B? The European god of chaos refused, so shove it onto the North American trickster god, because colonialism? Did you go mad, hanging on that tree?”

Emerald in Matrix
“Are you all right? You have that pensive look on your face again.” Juana Consuela Miguela Antonia Serrana y Herrero de Casa Esmeralda, True Scion of House Emerald, would smack anyone who tried to use her full name. I’m one of the few who could get away with using it, because I can’t stop my thoughts from leaking into her head.

Raising Cain. Runner-Up in The Forgotten Room Challenge. Top Story - November 2025.
The test was negative, of course. I don’t mind, though. Really. Being a vessel for my Pick Me golden sister is not something I would choose, except that it’s what "the family" wants.

The Dark Side of T2D
As I type, I’m trying very, very hard to keep my temper under control. Unfortunately, it’s not for any good reason. I’ve been holding (relatively) steady with Type 2 Diabetes for eight years now. I’ve slipped a bit; I slid into depression during COVID lock down, and again after last year’s election results. I’ve gone from a pre-diabetic 6.4 A1C to an 8.2 A1C as of two weeks ago, so I’ve got to get my act in gear.
