I say thank you to the ones I needed before I knew I needed them.
I say thank you. From the bottom of my gut and the base of my throat. I croak out these 2 words with all the energy I have because I’m not sure you’ll be able to hear otherwise. I no longer want them to slosh in the back of my gums waiting for us to find each other’s orbit. I realize that some planets just might never cross paths again.

What if Medusa was a Black Woman?
They say racism wasn’t for the Gods, but I know the truth. It started with them. We see the same story play out time after time. Innocent Black woman exists. White man uses his power. Robs her of her innocence. White woman blames the Black woman. If the story sounds familiar, then you’ve probably seen it before. Colonizer and the colonized. Slave owner and the enslaved. Poseidon and Medusa. All stories as old as time itself. You just have to really hear them to know they’ve always been the same.

Bell was a sad small town. But you could probably already tell by the name. It had 4 stores. 4 Lonely roads. 50 families that all knew each other by name. And one school. Kara hated it. Ever since she was a kid. But she couldn’t leave. Just never felt like the right time.

Perfect puzzle pieces
Noel paced the airport lobby halfway in a bubble of calm and a pool of giddy excitement. She looked at the arrivals section with the eyes of a hawk. She’d waited for this moment for what felt like 500 years and 3 minutes all at the same time. Within seconds, she was no longer waiting and was running. Running straight into the arms that had always held her like no one else could. She grabbed Maria carefully and sturdily as she jumped up on her. Noel nuzzled into her girlfriend’s neck. She never wanted to let go of this feeling. They held each other so tight that it felt like time stopped and folded in on itself because their gravitational pull to each other was stronger than that of the sun and the moon to the Earth.

And yes, it will have uhauling… because would it really be about us if it didn’t? But before we go to the best ending you’ve ever read in a lesbian story, we unfortunately have to go back to the beginning… which is way less fucking fun.

They say hindsight is 20/20 and I should have known. I should have seen it in the way you always left. The way you stopped calling. The way you stopped looking at me the same way. My heart was already breaking then. I just didn’t know it. I didn’t want to believe it. But I don’t actually think I hate you. I hate everything you did to me. I hate everything I let you do.

What are you running from? I groan loudly with my eyes still shut. Still groggy. As usual. The nightmares haven't stopped for years. I thought I'd forget about it by now. Shouldn't I have forgotten about it by now?
