Chapter 1 The boys heard the sound of the vehicle long before they saw it. The deep, throaty, burble of the v-8 motor reverberated around the township, the sound bouncing off any solid surface, even before the vehicle itself had come around that last bend in the road before the shopping centre.

Book review: Holden Sheppard’s THE BRINK
Having read and reviewed Holden Sheppard’s debut novel INVISIBLE BOYS last year, I was truly excited when I heard that his second novel, THE BRINK, would soon be released. Just as soon as I saw it was available I placed an order and within a few days I had a copy in my hands. And as an added bonus, my copy had also been signed by the author!

Waking from his stupor, wondering why his head was filled with strange noises and a throbbing that rattled him to his bones, while his mouth was as dry as the Simpson Desert and the world seemed to be spinning, it finally dawned on him. When Australian TV led the world in going Gay!
Back when I was a boy one of my father's favourite sayings was; "Back when I was a boy!" Then he would launch into some lengthy story, the gist of which would be how life/things/people were all so much better back then, or far less complicated, or just simpler. I'm sure most of you can relate to this.

They only came down from their mountainous worlds when dark times fell upon their lands and food became scarce,' the knight said to the group of children gathered at his feet. They were listening in awe to the stories he told of great battles and grand and dangerous adventures, hanging on every word.
