Group Development
Group Development In group development there are closed-ended groups that begin and end in and at a particular time period. The clients start and finish with same group with no new members entering at various times. There are also open-ended groups that people start and end at different times and go through different stages of development and these stages of development are:

Tongue Twisters and fun Stories
Here is a series of Tongue Twisters that I wrote in hopes of getting them published in a book. I was hoping to make it a hard or soft cover book or even a coloring book or a workbook where children could read the tongue twister and then draw and color what the tongue twister would look like as a picture. I have had no such luck unless you count those 'vanity press' publishers where you have to pay to get your work published. This set of tongue twisters will go along with the 'What I know' articles that I have been sharing about what I learned in my Human services degree.

Settings
Settings The settings that are ideally first encountered should be made at a time when the human service worker has some extra time and not distracted by at her or his competing obligations. Schedule a one (1) hour of uninterrupted time for meeting. Where? The agency has advantages like 1. it involves a clean, safe, private and convenient professional environment. 2. it has access to supplies, forms, and resources. 3. the human service worker is able to introduce other human service workers who may assist with the client. The disadvantages are 1. the human service worker may not be able to assess people and their family members in their own environment and may not establish a clear understanding of the impact of living arrangements. 2. It may be inconvenient of client(s) getting to the office for treatment. 3. There could be increased client anxiety. 4. There could be stigma. 5. The clients are worried about leaving dependents at home.

Play and Social Development
This is a newspaper column that I have had written for a local newspaper many, many years ago. The newspaper said that it was good, but they did not have the room to publish the piece, so I am going to give it try here and see what happens. As I said this is an old piece and some ideas have changed, but I do believe that there may be something useful in it even now.

Diversity Issues
Diversity Issues This is the beginning of the second half the semester notes for HSV 201 Introduction to Human Services, which is the name of the textbook that the material came. It is written as from a notebook that I studied. It is a series of definitions of terms and lists that the professor gave us in class. This study sheet article shows how diversity is shown in general through some statistics that were given by the professor.

Chapter Two
Chapter 2 Notes (continued) In the 1800's 'Workhouses' were around that were residential and with a contract with private citizens to provide food and clothes people got to work for what they had. This brought up the idea of 'Indentured servant 'servitude' system- Five to seven people total worked their way to the colonies for food, clothing, shelter, and medical care. Sponsers were gained to get to colony and this is equal to slavery in the Southern colonies.

Human services
This chapter starts off with discussing the Cyclical nature of change. These changes in social attitudes and treatment methods. Another area that is covered is whether to give commodities or give CASH. A question to ask is how would the client be motivated to use them. How responsible will they be? Could the people or will they loose control in use of the commodities or CASH? There is Conflict which is enabling people to do it themselves or is it just giving the commodities or CASH to them? Should we help and lead to a dependency on a program.

Things that I Know
This is the start of my offering study notes and guides to all the subjects that I have studied since undergraduate studies. The fields that I have studied while in college and even graduate school are: Early Childhood and Elementary education followed by a year in nursing school in a Practical nursing program. When after a few years I decided to go back to college and get a second Bachelors degree in Human services/Social work. This led me to starting a graduate program in Counseling that ended up in getting my Master's in Curriculum and instruction that also lead me to getting my doctorate in Reading and literacy. In studying and learning all about these areas I would like to share my class notes as well as some study guides and quizzes that I will create to give readers a chance to see what is entailed in these areas of study. I am also thinking about writing study outlines with the textbooks that I have studied over the years. There may also be some courses that I had in high school that I plan to write lesson plans and lectures for any education majors that may need ideas for their student teaching semester.

The Walton's The Homecoming A Christmas Story
There is an old television Christmas movie by the name of 'The Homecoming A Christmas Story' that I found on YouTube. I remember watching this movie when I was child with my parents. This was the very beginning of the television series 'The Walton's that appeared on CBS in 1972. I remember watching this movie when I was a small boy and asking my parents this question "Was that what it was like when you were little?" My mom and dad always shared what their childhood was like with all their children.
