Soul Companion; Shaman Ayes
Congratulations, Einstein, yes, I am a cat! Beyond the obvious observation, can you hold my gaze while I tell you about myself? No, I cannot talk, per se, however, my mum of a different breed channels my innermost thoughts. Marilyn is not my owner; I am not a pet. A cat shall never be owned. Instead, she is my soul companion, my human counterpart, my protege, dare I say, who holds all my knowledge.

A Pondside Postcard From Me to You. Top Story - January 2025.
Good morning Vocal community and welcome to the second edition of my Monday Morning Huddle. If you are stopping by for the first time, this little project of mine is a 2025 weekly nature-inspired read to kick off the new work week. A short post featuring personal photography taken from my phone and little tidbits of info ( depending on what inspires me) including little-known facts, folklore, spiritual parallels, mantras, meditations, and more.

Rolling Out The Monday Morning Huddle; A Year-long Weekly Vocal Media Series
Good morning, Vocal Media! Today marks the beginning of my year-long project, The Monday Morning Huddle. Unlike the huddle often affiliated with sports and the work front, this huddle is a platform pick me up that draws on spiritual inclinations found in nature. Personal photography sets the pace for a short read reflecting on the picture's topic while offering spiritually themed perspectives to kick off a new week.

In my day to day, I am a Marriott Operations Manager, specifically for the Courtyard brand. While we happily accommodate all travelers, our design is geared toward the trailblazer. Optimal work space in the lobby area, indoor/outdoor seating options, and the bistro are just a few examples of the comfort afforded to our creative guests.

My 2025 Vocal Media Writing Resolutions
Looking back on 2024, I can honestly say I wasted many writing opportunities. Sure, the year began on a high note; my poetry was getting recognized on Medium and my creative confidence had every intention of splitting my time equally on Vocal Media. I was geared up to make this a year reflective of steady growth.

Soundtrack of a Homeless Addict's Wife. First Place in The Soundtrack of Your Year Challenge. Content Warning.
If this were a support group meeting, I might say: Hi, my name is Marilyn. My husband is a homeless addict. Instead, I am using Vocal Media's Soundtrack of The Year Challenge to share an intimate part of my life that I haven't written about on this platform. 2024 has been a whirlwind of emotional flux as my husband's near brush with death sent me back in time reliving much heartache, anger, and frustration. Dredging up old memories recaptured a darkness I never thought I'd see again.

Why I Celebrate Day of the Dead. Top Story - November 2024.
Day of the Dead, also known as Dias de los Muertos, honors our loved ones who have passed on. As a lover of all things Halloween, October 31st has always been my favorite holiday. Yet beyond the tricks and treats, costumes, witchy, ghoul, and goblin vibes, ghosts of another sort took on greater meaning in my life in 2023. Now each year a celebration of one day becomes three, extending to November 2nd honoring lost family members, specifically my aunty Sue.
