The Rocking Chair
The Rocking Chair Inspired by real Events I was 19 years old when I got my first apartment. I was in my second trimester of pregnancy both nervous and excited as I was very young and inexperienced in the world. My place was a small first floor unit in a commercial building with one other apartment on the second floor. The remainder of the space was home to a used car dealership. There was no yard just a lot with second hand cars for sale.

Reverend Henry Kane
When I think about my favorite horror movie I consider many things. I look at the storyline and feel that plot as well as a strong cast of characters is important. As for the scare factor since we are talking about horror here I need to be terrified. Combining these factors, my choice for all time ultimate slasher/thriller is the Poltergeist trilogy from the 1980’s. My focus is one particular character; the Reverend Henry Kane.

Proper Fractions
A proper fraction is a number whose value is less than one and the numerator is less than the denominator. So what does mathematics have to do with this challenge? Well, for my open letter to a best friend I have chosen to write to my four children. When I think of whom my best friend is I have to include them all. Each child representing one quarter of a whole has unique attributes that when combined together, create one amazing unit.

Whispering Ankh
My one and only tattoo was done over two decades ago when I was twenty four years old. It is nothing elaborate yet within its simplicity it speaks in volume about everything in existence. I have always personally believed that a tattoo should have meaning to the owner and be chosen with great thought involved. I can recall a man telling me when I was much younger that what we mark our body with becomes part of who we are. With this notion in mind I chose my ankh tattoo. She sits upon my upper left back; nothing intricate just black and red ink.

Mr. K's Umbrella
I still remember that day last year like it was yesterday. I just left the office for the day and the air had a tropical feel to it; I could smell the storm brewing. The warmth combined with the breeze felt wonderful after a long day of work. My day didn’t start out great; running late in the morning, I forgot my tote bag which had my umbrella and walking shoes in it. The forecast said a storm was coming. It was shortly after 5 pm. I looked down at my stilettos, those damn heels that I loved so much. Just as I was thinking about whether I would make it to the bus stop, a block and a half away; thunder broke and it began to pour.

A Housekeeper's Guide to Safer Cleaning
I am a seasoned hospitality professional with two decades in the cleaning industry. I have been a hotel room cleaner, a laundry attendant, a room inspector & trainer. I also have managed Housekeeping and laundry in a 200 room capacity hotel. I am here today to talk about cleaning, products and the dangers we are imposing on both ourselves and our environment. Although commercial cleaning is not the same as residential, the risk factor is still involved with the usage of chemicals.

The Breakout of Blondie
I was born in the early 1970’s and this decade is my absolute must have for music. My earliest memories were artists like Elton John, Linda Ronstadt and The Eagles. If I find myself in a reminiscing mood I will definitely play songs from these artists, sit back and think back to those good old days. Songs like “Don’t Let the sun go down on me” takes me back to my days when I was living in Virginia Beach. Ah, there was nothing like the old style vintage stereo and those warm days of being a vibrant three years old. The Eagles classic “Hotel California” is another song that recaptures my early years of wonder and discovery.
