HIM The girl I liked didn't know I existed, and I was starting to get desperate. It wasn't because I was gross and absolutely unattractive, or that I lacked manly charm. She was simply too focused on her work. Picture this: cardigan, heels, hair in a severe bun. Oh yeah, that kind of girl didn't spend her free time noticing guys. (Or girls. But more importantly, did she even have free time?)

A Multiverse of Madness: 5 Things I Loved About Everything Everywhere All At Once. Top Story - May 2022.
I had no idea the film Everything Everywhere All At Once existed until my husband showed me the trailer, and it promised to be everything I wanted in a movie. For one, it's like those loopy time travel stuff that I really enjoy. And it looked to be equal parts chaotic, dark, weird, funny, action-packed, mind-boggling and thought-provoking, but also emotional and family-centered.

Hey Mom, I Built You A Time Machine
Hey Mom, Surprise! I built you a time machine. No, it’s not a metaphorical time machine. I'm a science girl, not a poet! Remember all those hours you spent and all the patience you lost tutoring me for my classes, despite the fact that you were a working mom and housewife rolled into one? Well it's finally paid off because I’ve built you an actual, WORKING time machine!

Five More Minutes, Mommy
A week or so ago, I thought about my being a night owl and how it's generally been a struggle for me to get up in the morning bright-eyed and alert. I've been doing quite well in my acclimation here in my new country, and I felt "waking up early" was my last hurdle in my quest to establish a new routine.

(Over)View From the Top
Moving halfway around the world in 2022 hasn't been quite as daunting as I'd feared. Technology has made it easier to keep up with family and friends from home, for one. I remember the days of traveling out of the country with no mobile internet, when I had to make expensive international phone calls to stay in touch. Now even our puppy joins us for video calls.

Artist Horror Stories: The Audience Is the Enemy
Note: This was originally written as a monologue for a live theatre performance with the theme 'artist horror stories.' A friend of mine claims to be my biggest fan. Unlike my mother, she goes to all my shows and sits on the front row. Unlike my sisters, she posts about my gigs and livestreams my performances. Unlike my girlfriend, she tells everyone what an amazing artist I am and how I'm the next Taylor Swift. Heck, she's already made me a Facebook fan page, proclaimed herself as the president of my fan club, and gotten into a spat with a basher or two.

My Favorite Eurovision 2022 Performances
I admit that I didn't know about Eurovision until the Will Ferrell movie, and that I was among those who fell into the spell and wanted to perform Husavik at some point. (Spoiler alert: I never did. But my brother and I covered KEiiNO's Spirit in the Sky in a party once!)
