The strange disappearance of Patricia “Patti” Adkins
Ohio has an extraordinary number of unsolved homicide and missing persons cases. One of the most intriguing ones I have followed for years is the story of Patti Adkins. Patti, a 29-year-old single mother worked at the Honda plant in Marysville, Ohio. After leaving work on June 29, 2001, she vanished. It’s been over twenty years since anyone has seen or heard from her.

Military injustice: Part 3 of 3
For the past two weeks, I have written about soldiers who were murdered or died under unusual circumstances. What I find disturbing is that so many soldiers would still be alive had they just avoided the military. And I am not talking about soldiers who died on the battlefield. I am referring to soldiers who died stateside. Unfortunately, many are now deceased because they didn’t receive help from their superiors. For the last part of this story, I will profile three female soldiers who were failed by the military.

Many of these killers get captured because they knew their victims. But there are many cases that have gone unsolved and will probably remain that way. Many of them occurred before DNA and modern science. And if law enforcement solves the homicide, the killers are often already deceased.

The wheels of justice can turn painfully slow
Before advances in genetic testing, if someone committed a brutal homicide, either he would avoid capture or an innocent person would end up in prison. When genetic testing came out, it freed many innocent people. Whenever I scan the latest news for true crime stories, I always look for updates on cold cases. It still amazes me when I see a killer captured 30 or 40 years after committing a heinous crime.
