Sadiah promised Pete that she wouldn't work at the club for a week if he promised not to tell her Daddy that he found her just yet. She opened up to him telling the horrible Ms. Howard story and now Pete understood why Sadiah ran away. Since Brett was never home anymore, Sadiah had time to herself to think but the jonesin made it impossible for her to sit still, so she went for a walk.

The Basement was filling up quickly even though the band has still setting up. When Mekayla walked in she was pleasantly surprised that Brett had secured her favorite booth. When he stood up, she took survey of him again. He was wearing a lime green turtleneck and brown slacks. Brett's smile was amazing as well as infectious. She couldn't help smiling back at him as she sat down on her side of the booth.

Mekayla was suffering from the worst case of writer's block and because of this she had become impossible to deal with. She could be laughing and joking one minute then the next minute become snappy and reclusive. Erik thought that if he volunteered Mekayla's services for Haunted Poetry Weekend, it would keep her mind busy and off of the fact she couldn't write.

Even with the windows of the club painted black, somehow the watch-less patrons knew when it was time to go home. There was no one left in the bar except for Sadiah who was topless and making her way over to a booth that contained a handsome, well dressed, man in his late forties early fifties.

When Mekayla got home, she heard what sounded like a baby crying from her bedroom. She put her book bag on the dining room table and cautiously walked into her room. When she came to her back door leading to the fire escape, the crying became louder. She opened the door, looked through the screen and found a little tiger striped kitten wailing. Mekayla gasped and opened the door and cupped the kitten in her hands.

Sadiah must have slept the whole day because her stomach aching and her head was throbbing when she opened her eyes. The room was dark, but she knew Brett wasn't in the bed with her because she could see the alarm clock blinking, eight-thirteen.

It seemed that Mekayla was in town checking out some local poetry when the guy she came with got jealous when the host was tryin to talk to her and left her. Kevin wound up giving her a ride to the train station. Mekayla was quite a talker and Kevin enjoyed listening to her. He remembered laughing at how animated she got when she discussed the situation. Her eyes would dart back and forth and she would talk a mile a minute. She was also very witty and some of the statements she would make would have Kevin belting out in laughter.
