A Resolution in Inadequacy
Starting the new year can be intimidating. There's always tons of articles and speeches that the people of the world strive for and start as beginning of a new year comes around. Hours are dedicated to mapping out how the first month should go and that usually sets the tone for the months after that. However, these last two years have taught people a lot about themselves if not the humanity of the world. Just how many times can you possibly root for change and then not follow through? An exciting look into disrupting your routine starts out fun but then turns boring when your commitment starts fading.

I Used To Break Every Mirror
There's an old saying, "breaking a mirror brings seven years of bad luck," and though I never remembered physically breaking one, I grew up looking into any mirror and saw cracked pieces. My reflection was always a topic of conversation with myself because I felt like I didn't belong to the body that stood in front of me. I developed poor self-esteem and made careless life choices that hindered growth throughout my twenties. However, something changed in me when I turned twenty-five; I threw caution to the wind and sold my car, moved to California, followed a small path to expand my passion for writing, moved back home to South Carolina, then moved to Michigan, and stumbled into finding the beginning of a mirror I couldn't break.

Happy in Doses
I think a lot of success circles around the happiness of a person and what they've got. It is often perceived that a successful person isn't happy and a happy person can't be successful and while that can be the case, it depends on the person and their perception of what happiness means to them. A lot of pressure and expectation lies too heavily in seeking a fulfilling life with another human being; this deprives the heart and mind the capacity to differentiate between the two. Is it really possible to meet a maximum potential of what dreams stain in the brain with another human? Yes, the answer is yes but it can leave an empty space. Though, that is the power of how someone perceives something to be. You can have it all but it takes a lot of understanding, commitment, and determination. I can go on and on about it as there is no right and wrong as I've said in the first part of this series but again, just trying to reach out with my own thoughts and experiences.

Moonlight
When I tell you, healing is a long and rough road, I'm not trying to paint you a picture of the peace it brings you after the fact. It is the hard truths about yourself that you must come to terms with so you can choose to break that pattern or not. It is the upsetting moments where you feel you broke something precious because you know that part of you hasn't healed yet. It gets scary to realize the patterns when you are amid something amazing. But you must choose to get out of the patterns that trauma has made comfortable for you; not that it has made you feel at ease, but it has taught you how to have yourself treated. A shame it is to go through hell and still feel like that is the normal, that it'll strike at any moment and you'll stand there and swear it was coming. But on the other side, how fortunate is it to find something amazing that really makes you dive deep and break those bonds to what helped you survive then.

Happy in Doses
I've been wanting to start Happy in Doses for quite some time now. It is a project I've had on my mind with one main goal: to communicate that people are not alone. Even in the darkest times, it feels comforting to know that your feelings are validated and that there are others that can feel similar emotions. I am not a person that believes that listening to other people will make everything better but sometimes just hearing someone else voice their experiences and their lessons learned helps change the perspective of how someone may feel. Especially how they feel in the moment because let's face it-- in the moment highs can run and sometimes overlap into the many long days ahead and drain us. I'm no medical or mental professional but I just want to share my thoughts and experiences with others and explain that is okay to not be happy all the time, even when it comes in doses.
