Lori Antrim
Bio
I've been writing since I was a child, loving poetry, short stories, and fantasy. I was always avoiding chores by parking myself with a good book in the "library." My mom was always yelling at me to get my tush in gear.

Blenders and Buttercream Frosting
What is the big deal about dating? Why does everyone, including me, get so spun over something so painful? Dating takes a middle-aged person who is relatively secure and happy with his or her life and just beats the ever-living crap out of them. How can a 39-year-old woman who is independent and self-reliant end up so insecure? I honestly do not get it.

Growing Up
I don’t know what year it was, but my best friend was still Tonya Johnson. Nana and Pop had come down from Indiana in their camper and had parked it in our enormous backyard. It was hooked up to the power, but we had to go inside if we had to pee. God knows, no one wanted to deal with a sewage system over the holidays.

Stork Delivery
Good morning, beautiful lady! Today is December 3rd. It’s been a special day in my life since the very first one in 1970. It was on this day that the social workers brought me to my new home with the Clarks. It was nearing Christmas, and they had me dressed in a beautiful red, velvet dress. I still have it. Fifty years later, and I still own my very first Christmas outfit.

Wolf
It was the first of October, 1970. Mary and Ed lived in Beech Grove, Indiana, while Ed worked for an accounting firm in Indianapolis. The commute wasn’t bad, unless there was weather. Fortunately, it looked to be a mild fall. Mary was a stay-at-home-wannabe-mom. They had gotten pregnant a couple years back but lost the baby early in the pregnancy. Mary desperately wanted a baby, but they just couldn’t conceive. Earlier that year, they had met with an adoption agency and put in an application, which had been approved.

Woof
It was five thirty in the morning, and I could hear my alarm going off. I reached over to hit the snooze, but all I hit was carpet. As I banged the carpet, I also realized that, for some reason, my fingers were missing. I opened my eyes and realized that something was very, very wrong. First, I was not in my bed, but on the floor. Second, my hand that had reached for the alarm was not a hand. It was a paw.

Knight in Shining Armor
Being a greyhound mom for over a decade, I have a lot of “trigger” moments. On Facebook, people always share stories that trigger memories of my hounds. Some of the memories are hilarious, some are a bit bittersweet. This story is more than a little bittersweet.

Obsession
I had just dropped Sammy off at the Knight's house for little Kayla's birthday party and was headed back to my brother's townhouse that I rented. I was all set to watch the Peach Bowl by myself. It was one of those nostalgic afternoons that I hated so passionately. This stupid townhouse in which I was forced to live had all the happy memories, the ones before the bitch went nuts.

Three Blind Dates and a Wedding
I was so very sick of dating. Every silver lining had a dark cloud within, casting shadows across the timeline of my life. I tried so many times, even getting married once, only to have him cheat on me repeatedly. I ditched him, alone, in New York City, on his birthday. Looking back on that day, I feel sadness but a fantastic sense of karmic intervention. Then guilt sets in for feeling that last part.
