The Return of the Order: Act 40
Margaret paced the floor of the study, her emerald eyes glinting in the dim light. “I should be out there with them.” She turned to face Ciel as he shifted his position against the far wall. Margaret waited, expecting him to say something. When nothing came, she resumed her pacing, only to stop when one of the hounds lifted its head and sniffed the air. She glanced over to Ciel, who moved to the door and nodded as both hounds stood and growled. "They are here," he whispered as he walked back a few steps.

The Return of the Order: Act 39
Act 41: The Garden Black mist surrounded the group as each of the demons took on their true form. The sound of fabric tearing and seams giving way filled the quite sky as cloth gave way to growing and rearranging limbs. The air shifted and swirled around their heads as wings were unfurled and stretched. Louisa rolled her shoulders, turning her head from side to side as her horns took form. She took looked around her. Her father's dark scaled form stood behind her to her left. Malphas stood next to him on her right, his feathery wings catching the slight breeze that brought the scent of the enemy to her.

The Return of the Order: Act 38
Louisa and Malphas stood by the window in the parlour looking out over the manor gardens. Her head rested against his shoulder, her fingers tapping against the pommel of the sword as they watched red and orange tendrils draw across the sky. As her fingers moved, she could feel the power of the sword caressing her fingertips, travelling across every nerve in her hand and arm. Closing her eyes, she could almost see her connection to the sword, and through it, her link to her ancestor. Malphas had told her stories of Lilith, of how she was the first of their kind to interact with humans. She had created the three ancient weapons and fought alongside the humans, protecting them from the angels first attempt to claim the human realm. It had been the war that had forever set the angels against the demons. He told her the story of how Lilith had been betrayed by those she sought to help. How her name had been wiped from the human record, her deeds lost to time. Now, even in the demon realm, her memory was all but lost. It remained only in a few stories handed down by the last of the ancient demons. Tears welled in her eyes as she opened them, once more focusing on the garden and the shadows as they grew with the first hints of the sunset.

The Return of the Order: Act 37
Act 39: Truths Revealed The sky was still the slate grey of early morning when William was woken by knocking on the bedroom door. He felt Lilith shift beside him as the door opened just a fraction. Undertaker's head appeared in the small gap, his bright eyes shining in the dullness. William watched as a grin formed on Undertaker's face as his eyes settled on Lilith's still sleeping form. William's brow furrowed as Undertaker beckoned for him to rise and follow him; he did not want to move from the warmth of the bed or his sleeping mate. Shaking his head, William sat up, carefully swinging his legs out of bed trying hard not to disturb Lilith or expose himself while Undertaker watched from the door.

The Return of the Order: Act 35
As Lord Birch made his way from the kitchen to his bedroom, he noted a shadow moving towards his study. Thinking it to be Undertaker heading back to the books, he thought little of it and continued on his way. His head throbbed with the gravity of the decision he had just made. Lord Birch had cared little for his life since the deaths of his wife and child. He had readily accepted his death at the hands of the demon he had trapped as payment for his actions. Ordering Sebastian to place Louisa's safety above his was the right thing to do, so why did he now feel uneasy? Why now was his imminent demise gnawing at him?

The Return of the Order: Act 33
Act 35: A Wolf in the Stable Once again, formalities were set aside in the Birch household. Lord Birch marvelled at the array of individuals that shared his table that night. As he gazed around the table, it dawned on him that he now was the only human at the table. Even the two hounds that slept, one at the feet of each of the twins, were not from the human realm.

The Return of the Order: Act 31
An uneasy calm settled over the Birch household. Lord Birch had awoken in a sombre mood the previous day, having been informed of Margaret’s deteriorating health and the reasons for it. However, the news that greeted him this day was much more positive. Seeing the smiling faces of the twins and their reapers at breakfast gave him hope that maybe, just maybe, there would be a positive outcome in all of this, for Sebastian’s family at least.

The Return of the Order: Act 30
Undertaker swung his scythe in time to the tune he whistled as he made his way through the manor and up to Margaret's room. His position, even in retirement, provided him with a modicum of foresight, something, not even the other reapers were aware of, and not a power he had abused, well not in a long time anyway. Undertaker smiled as he passed the twins’ rooms, everything there was at least finally going to plan. However, he knew the fates to be tricky, especially when love was involved, and there was no guarantee that the next part would go according to the path he had foreseen.
