Fresh Start
Out With The Old, In With The New At this point of my life, I think I've earned the title of "Fresh Start Queen." Specifically speaking to leaving the old in the past and ushering in what's next! I became aware of this process in 2018 but it began way before then. Before I get into it, you should know that I'm attempting a one-in-a-lifetime career as an Actor, Producer and Writer. I moved to Hollywood, La-La Land three years and ten months ago. Man, my 4 year anniversary is around the corner and time has flown by! I've had around 7 different housing arrangements within these past 3 years and let me be the one to tell you that, you have no choice but to keep it moving!

Hello Clubhouse!
My week on Clubhouse. In case you haven't heard it through the grapevine, there's a new social media app in beta testing resembling a podcast platform, called Clubhouse. You have to be invited, or, if someone in your contacts list is already on the app., they have to let you in... Secret society vibes much? I signed up via Twitter and my friend who already used it, "let me in" after which Clubhouse informed me via text that I had been moved to the top of the line thanks to my friend's referral. Once on the app, you create a profile and your friend owns the honorable badge of being the one who "nominated" you. Six degrees of separation guys, this app is here to stay!

Friendly Politics?
Can we talk about what politics has done to friendships for a sec, please? Let's face it, we've gotten closer to each other virtually, due to social distancing and stay-at-home orders, that we end up chatting to people on social media every day! It's easy to form new "best friends" when you spend THAT much time with each other but... Yeah, there's a but... Here comes politics to ruin the day!

Crazy on Capitol Hill
What is Crazy? As I said in my previous article, I’m gonna talk about crazy today. I’ve been called crazy before because of not thinking the way other people do and because of not acting the way they expected me to. I don’t like being controlled, I’m a wanderer so many people take that to mean, I need to be controlled. On the contrary, if you try to control me, you will see an episode of crazy. A bit of paranoia takes over then I believe my own thoughts and I escape. I’m not being specific because I can’t quite remember the situations or conversations where I was called crazy. I’ve never hurt anyone or myself, so how crazy can I really be... I work on having a healthy mind. If I speak my mind, I’m considered crazy... Why aren’t the people who believe lies considered crazy? Don’t disrupt the lie, disrupt the truth teller? Misconstrued definition of crazy, in my opinion.

EGO
Who we are, what we do, our reputation, almost all aspects of our life require EGO, if you will... Your Identity is an Idea of who you are and how you present, this is the False Self. It’s very hard to get to know someone due to the many built up layers of Self that have to be knocked down in order to get to know the True Self.

The Mortality Question
I just saw a slideshow with a beautiful song tributed to a rather young looking man who was an Uncle to the person. He seemed like a great person to be around and I have no idea why he passed on. The tribute was beautiful. Last week I saw that a close family friend died. I searched through our mutual friends on Facebook to find out why but didn’t find the cause anywhere. It seemed to be a car wreck. From as far back as I can remember, my people in the Caribbean die from car accidents way too often. I don’t know about you but 2020 questioned my mortality on more than one occasion and I’ve concluded that there are worst things than death. Let me explain...

2020 Taught Me...
This year, 2021, will be all about personal commitment and challenging myself. We all face challenges so why not choose ones for improvement? I want to be more intentional... I listened to a masterclass on Alignment in business yesterday and it’s a balancing act really. Being the wanderer that I am, I usually just “go with the flow.” I’m always “lost in the right direction.” I can’t say that pursuing my interests hasn’t led me anywhere I don’t wish to be but setting intentions helps me manifest and keeps me aligned with my purpose. I would also like more self-awareness, can never do without it really especially as an actor. I wrote about some challenges that I inadvertently set for myself last year and their outcomes. New Years Eve
It’s 7:15pm and I’m watching the same thing I’ve been watching for the past week, the only difference is today’s date. “I’ll see you next year!” My roommate gave me a hug and said he probably won’t see me until next year. Yup, you guessed it, today is December 31st 2020 the last day of the year. I feel a sadness because I’m afraid that 10 years from now, we’ll forget what happened this year and it will feel like a faded memory.

Period Smeriod...
I’m very protective about labeling myself so let me start by saying that I’m probably not a feminist... I am open to feminist exploration... I’m pretty sure that a feminist would have something good to say about their period. Here’s what I have to say: I got my period twice this month. I don’t remember the last time that’s ever happened. I feel “savage” when I’m on my period, like I’m out for blood (no pun intended).
