RED HERRING

I sat in a room waiting for the cop to comeback. I was being watched but I wasn’t going to show them any form of weakness. Besides there’s no proof. Suddenly the door flung open. I thought to myself what a bunch of bozos. He’s trying to play bad cop. “Bailey Hendrix” the cop stated. “Yup that’s me.” He slams a little black notebook down on the interrogation table and I cracked a smile. “Ha, so that got your attention, what can you tell me about its Ms. Hendrix?” “Well, its little, black, and it’s a notebook, since you brought it in here, I’m curious to know what you think it is?” The cop nose twisted up and anger grew intensively. He threw his coffee across the room thinking this was going to scare me, he had no clue who I really was. “Dammit! Hendrix, this book is full of names and numbers which I can only assume are contacts.” My eyes showed no fear. I simply smirked and stated, “I want my one phone call.” Officer Angry Pants nodded, told me to hold my hands out, put hand cuffs on me and escorted me to the phone. I dialed a number and a woman picked up “Hey I’m ready to cash in that favor, I’m at 2152 Drewy Lane and bring Shelia.” I hung up and whistled to be taken back to the Interrogation room. I sat down crossed my legs and flipped my hair back. “Okay let’s go, you want to know what the little black book is, I’ll tell you.” Angry pants grabbed the chair, a pen, and a notebook gearing up for a clean and clear confession. I on the other hand had something else in mind. I cleared my throat and said let me start from the beginning. “I was home the day I received a letter from a mysterious woman, I’m not easily scared but I thought who could send this too me. But no one came into my mind. I opened the letter and in it, it stated to be at this specific location on a Thursday night for dinner.” “what’s the location?” “Do you want me to finish or no?” He nodded yes. “So, I thought to myself this is bullshit, but of course when Thursday rolled around, I was present. I walked to the door and gave the code name. “What was the code name?” “Red Herring” Angry pants began to jot down. When the door opened, I proceeded and made my way into the parlor. I thought I was the first to arrive, but I was wrong. There were other guests, and I was a little bit under dressed. Most of the people who were standing in the room were dressed in suits and nice dresses. Meanwhile, here I was dressed in a biker jacket, with biker boots, an all-black jumpsuit. Hair pulled back into a messy bun and a gun tucked into my jacket. Never knew what I was walking into, but I was prepared. “So, you own a gun?” “I own several” Anyway next thing you know here comes a woman, wearing a mask and she comes in collecting every weapon from each individual. I was thrown off, but I participated anyway. I handed over my gun. All while she collected different firearms, she never took her eyes off me. “Have you met the lady before?” “Goodness motherfucker did you not here me say she had a mask?” Let me finish damn! So, she took the guns and put them away, came back and turned on the television. A distorted figure popped up on the screen and the first thing she said was ‘Congratulations’ Now I’m looking around this motherfucker, as in what the hell, why is she congratulating us. I notice different things in the room. Trophies, odd books, glasses that each person had. Then I notice I was the only one without a glass. Coincidence? I highly doubted it. I focus my attention back on the screen as she began stating what was the purpose of this meeting. She stated “Each person in this room came from a family that had a background of criminal history. Of course, I was confused I was adopted I didn’t know much about my biological family. Anyway, next thing you know things took a horrible turn. People started dropping dead. Like flies. “What do you mean dropping dead?” “I simply mean while she was talking people were dying where they stood. At first, I was shocked, but I remembered every person had a drink. So maybe it was spiked. “Why didn’t you have a drink?” “Are you crazy, when you’re invited into a strange place you don’t take anything, they offer you. Rule 1: NO EATING OR DRINKING AT UNFAMILIAR PLACES.” A lady walked back in the room and placed a little black notebook down on the coffee table. The remaining 3 people, me included stood there looking. I’m not a bitch so I picked up the little black notebook and opened it. The first thing I read was ‘If you are seeing this, then this mean you are meant to be with us. KILL THEM’ “What did you do?” I smirked looked at the time, “Can I have some water, I’m a little parched. Angry pants got up and walked out of the room. Moments later he returned with 2 cups of water. One for me and one for him. “So, I asked a question before I left, what did you do?” “What the fuck did you think I did, I killed them. No remorse no nothing. Just like that I was standing covered in blood. I stood there for a few seconds, but it felt like hours. Just the thought of being covered in someone’s blood was such a rush. And I needed more. “So, are you confessing to killing two people?” I laughed harder until the point I was laughing out tears. The door flung open and there she was my one favor I called in. “oh my fucking goodness! This is getting better by the minute, Hello Mrs. Angry Pants” “Shut up Bailey, you probably already spoke too much” “You have no idea!” I replied with a sinister laugh. Mr. Angry Pants face had an expression that looked as if he saw a ghost. “Allison, what the fuck is going on here, how did you even make it through, why didn’t anyone page me, how do you know my suspect?” “SHUT THE HELL UP, I’m your wife. I do not need any permission to visit my husband. We don’t have a lot of time, so I’m going to be straight forward with you. Names were drawn yours came up. I was going to divorce you but instead with all the cheating, lies, the scandals you have going on in this place, and dirty cops I figure we do something even better.” “Murder dumb ass” I blurted out. Officer Angry Pants stood up and slowly started backing up. Mrs. Angry Pants reaches in her purse and passes me little Lucy. I loaded her up with rounds and cocked it back. Angry pants tried to make a run for it. I held my gun up “tsk, tsk, tsk, I wouldn’t do that. I haven’t been on my medication in a while and not to mention you have been aggravating the hell out of me, I’m itching to let Lucy ring.” “Okay hold up, we can all talk this out, I have connections, we can call the mayor and sort things out.” Allison eyes watered up; I tilted my head to the side because at this point, I was no longer Bailey. Hendrix had surfaced and she was ready to play. “Who the fuck you think sent us?” I stated. “No way the mayor wouldn’t unless she’s trying to cover her tracks, listen Allison we can work this out. “No Allison, we can Work this out, shut up,” I said mockingly. I put my silencer on and shot him in the leg. “Listen my patience is running out, Mrs. Angry Pants, let’s get this over with, I have places to go.” “Okay listen up hubby, you treated me like shit, and I had to do a little digging. You have two offshore accounts that’s untraceable. One is set at about 10 million and the other at 5 million. I need you to load the 1st account into my offshore account, and the second into baileys account NOW!” “Yea do that quickly, because the 500,000 that was sent to me for the first 2 kills, Well she’s pretty lonely in there. “Please don’t make me do this what about our kids?” A shot ringed off again. Allison’s phones ringed and I cut my eyes towards her. “Hello, Shelia, how much longer. “Ten minutes before system override is shut off and cameras are back and running” She hung up. I walked towards Mr. Angry Pants reached down and kissed his forehead. “As you can see, I’m not mentally well take out the phone and transfer the fucking money. Angry pants grabbed his phone and transferred every cent he had. “Okay money has hit my account; I think I am done here.” “Bailey what about his body” “Don’t worry Mrs. Angry Pants the Mayor will take care of it.
