The Beginning
Everything was heavy. Her eyelids, her arms, her legs. She felt as if a vise was wrapped around her, squeezing the life out of her. She pushed down the panic because she knew she was dreaming, she often had nightmares of drowning at sea. All she had to do was wake up and it would be over.

The Sunrise
How did her life turn out this way? She kept trying to picture the chain of events that led to this, but everything was fuzzy, out of focus. Perhaps that was the alcohol. She looked at the empty bottle with sadness. Whether she was sad that it was gone or that she drank it in the first place, she didn’t know.
