Tiny Beautiful Resolutions. Top Story - January 2024.
On the first page of my new planner of 2024, it asked "What's your word for this year?" Now we'll come back to what word I picked in a second, but as I started thinking about what word would best encapsulate my intentions for 2024, I thought about the first episode of Tiny Beautiful Things on Hulu, and one part came to mind. For reference, Tiny Beautiful Things is a book by Cheryl Strayed that follows Clare (Kathryn Hahn) a floundering writer who becomes a revered advice columnist while her own life is falling apart. At the end of the first episode, Clare is writing her first response to a young girl that had written in and she says:

Movies that Helped Me Love Myself
I think the phrase "fake it til you make it" is something everyone has had to tell themselves six or seven times in their life. Whether that's meeting new people, going out and being social when all you wanna do is stay inside for the night, or just self-confidence as a whole. Fake it 'til you make it, or in this case - fake it 'til it's true.

The Playlist Trip
At the start of middle school, my brother would make me mix CDs. I'd get to school early, go to the gym and sit with my CD player and digest the entire CD in one morning. As my friends would trickle in, I'd show them my favorites from what I had just listened to. I have a vivid memory of playing Black Eyed Peas "Don't Lie" on repeat 3 or 4 times before I went to the next song.

A Love Letter to California
The silence in the morning, if you wake up before the morning rush. The aroma of coffee at Coffee Connection on the corner. The euphoric feeling of dancing at an outdoor concert. The smell of the beach on the first day of summer in Santa Monica. The line of palm trees driving down the street in Beverly Hills. The idea of immensity while walking around the tallest buildings downtown. Blasting your music in the midst of traffic. Smelling old books at the Last Bookstore. Donuts at three am from Yum Yum. Walking on the beach at night in a sweater and shorts. How a salad can actually change your life on Abbot Kinney. Late-night burgers and pizza. Disneyland during Christmas time. Eating pasta at Eataly in the Century City Mall. Buying wine on Rose Avenue from France. The parents cheers from the community baseball field on a Saturday afternoon. Sitting underneath a heater at dinner when the Santa Ana winds come for Fall. Christmas Tree Lane in the Valley once November first hits. Authentic Tacos from a truck that are better than any restaurant. A drive with an iced coffee through the Hollywood Hills. The backroads of Mulholland at night. The search lights during a concert at Hollywood Bowl. Getting a tattoo on Sunset Boulevard at 11 pm. Being in the moment, with traffic, beaches, and the best years of my life.

My Biggest Fan
