Xila's hunger
The mouth of the cave was steep, damp and wide. Xila Kota had to be extremely careful with her steps, or the weight of her body would cause chunks of loose rock to crumble beneath her, threatening to yank her back down to the bottom of the mountain.

Canicatti, Sicily | July 9th, 1943 | 3:45A.M The belly of the C-47 aircraft was deathly quiet, save for the numbing droning of the duel 1,200 horsepower radial engines. The paratroopers, mostly pale-faced teenagers, stared across the aisle into each other’s blood-shot eyes as they roared over the boiling Mediterranean.

Chaos on The Tobin
Boston, MA | Tobin Bridge Swaying in the wind, while balancing the balls of his feet on the icy railing, sirens and horns screamed in a symphony behind him. His right hand was frozen to an adjacent rail while he reached out with his left, spreading his fingers as wide as they could stretch. His eyes were glued shut while he was mumbled under his breath, repeating the same mantra over and over. This wasn’t a form of prayer, this was closer to a summoning, or a sacrificial offering. Tattooed in the center of this left palm, was a lily sprouting from three flames.
