As usual, I would take the old baseball and throw it just before the crop line. Rocky, our golden retriever, would gallop out, grab it, and do a little trot back. The ball would be covered in his spit. He’d lick my face as I scratched his favorite spot.

American Weather
The air was dry and cold, the moon lit the path to my house. I was only just a couple of feet away. I could make it before ten, right? The cold air won’t kill me that quickly, will it? When I reached my apartment door, I fumbled with my keys to find the right one to open the door before I froze to death. Slowly I felt the ice on my hair begin the freeze and my fingers couldn’t move as swiftly to get inside. Then the alarm sounded. It was time. Those who were on the streets ran to the side of the road and hid in the alleys behind or in dumpsters. You could hear people screaming from a distance in horror. The blizzard was coming. I had to get inside before it got me. “Will I make it?” I thought. I couldn’t find the key to fit. Why do I have so many damn keys? Out of the corner of my eye I saw a woman waving her hand at me and shouting “Down here! Come down here!” she said. I took off running towards her away from the hell ball of snow. I turned into her apartment and she shut the door as the blizzard went by?

Dear A, I’m sorry I left you like that. I shouldn’t have even let it go on for that long, this far away. You were great, mature, fun, and caring. I couldn’t solve that problem for you, but I’m sure you found your answer. I hope you solve your future. I hope you can be healed from me leaving like that. I hope you know the future is still yours, forever. I never gave you a proper goodbye. I guess I couldn’t bring myself to let go of what we had. I will forever be praying for you, you don’t believe but I do.

Monsters Aren't Real
His fangs were long. Sofia ran her thumb from his lips, over his gums, down to the pointy curve of the fang. Austin was lost deep in the ocean of her blue eyes. She looked up at him, trying to hold her composure, but let out a slight snort, then a winkle at the end of her lips. His eyes focused back on reality instead of his fantasies. She noticed and shut her eyes. If she looked at him, she would laugh. And her not lot looking at him wasn’t hiding the fact she had a smile on her face, and he had a disappointed grin.

“COME GET IT! Hot of the press, the new Duster 3000 is for sale at a new low low price!” I turned to look at the newsboy standing on a box, waving the paper and a silver can in the air. Did he seriously have one? A Duster 3000? I turned from the bar to get a closer look. He did. He did have one. How did this kid get one? I looked around to see if anyone else had heard him, and a crowd gathered. Someone picked up a paper, scanned the words briefly, then took off down the street. Grey dust kicked up from behind as he ran.
