The Found Daughter. Honorable Mention in I Resign From… Challenge.
Dear Biological Family, I don’t know how it happened, but you left me. I was left alone, in the middle of the street, with nothing on but underwear, at the age of four. I was lost in New Delhi, India. I was found by the police and taken to the orphanage. Luckily, I was adopted less than a year later and grew up in America. I lived a very privileged life. I had two parents who loved me and wanted me as their daughter. I had a sister who was also adopted. I had a lot of friends growing up. I was fortunate enough to have an education. I participated in gymnastics, ballet, and rock climbing. I also played the clarinet and piano. I went to college, and I met my husband. We have a beautiful son together.

Motherhood. Runner-Up in The Metamorphosis of the Mind Challenge.
I met my boyfriend (now husband) in September 2018 on the dating app OkCupid. We hit it off right away and dated for six months before I found out I was pregnant. I had never considered having biological children before, so I was excited to find out we were having a baby together.

The Day the Toaster Declared War
The Day the Toaster Declared War May Caterina’s morning routine was sacred: wake up at 6:45 a.m., shuffle to the kitchen in her fuzzy slippers, and put two slices of bread into her ancient toaster. She’d hum off-key to a song she didn’t know while the coils glowed, delivering perfectly bronzed toast.
