A Kinder World Through Music. Runner-Up in We Have a Dream Challenge.
Music is often described as the universal language. I have seen this firsthand in my nearly 35 years of teaching music at Dr. Daniel Bright public school in Cottonwood, Arizona. New students may come in my classroom feeling alienated, especially if English is their second language. But if they see the other students engaged in a song or music activity which is easy enough to catch onto, they inevitably smile and participate.

Warmth for Sara
Sara always thought of her dad as a saint and her mom as a sinner. Her parents married very young. Neither of them was quite prepared when she came along. When she was young, her mom worked as a waitress at Wimpy’s Café in their small town of Park Rapids, Minnesota, so she was mostly raised by her loving father.

Mini Fiction Challenge
Recently, I invited members of the Facebook support group, Vocal Writing Prompts to participate in a mini fiction challenge (MFC). My goals were to increase membership for VWP and to give the members a reason for using the prompts I am posting for everyone.
