Melissa had two kids: Peter (14) and Mina (8). Her husband, Terry, was a soldier who was killed in action four years ago. As expected, the family went through a challenging grieving period, but when things started feeling more normal, Melissa decided to get a dog. It was a mongrel, and Mina named him Dorito after her favorite snack.

The Mage is a Menace
"Ignis Pila!" As he uttered this spell, a ball of flame appeared from out of thin air, propelling itself toward his target. His target was an ogre-like creature with three heads and four arms. These creatures were three times the size of an average human. If that wasn't enough to scare anyone away, besides the fact that the foulest stench permeated the environment whenever one of them was nearby (which got exponentially worse when they opened their mouths), these three-headed ogres ate humans. The younger ones would eat a man raw the moment they caught one. The more experienced monsters liked boiling people in a peculiar broth, which made any human pass out upon smelling it.

He did it again. His attempt failed, but he still made the attempt. He did it without thinking about how it would make his sister feel... without batting an eye as to whether his mother would've died of heartbrokenness. He just went ahead and slit his wrists, lay in the bathtub, and hoped to die.

His bloodied, trembling hands had the skin of his knuckles peeled off. Emmet was a nice guy. Polite to his neighbors, a law-abiding citizen that never had any run-ins with law enforcement; his wife thought of him as someone with the perfect balance between boring routine and adventurous excitement. It's hard to say what she meant by that exactly. She was going to surprise him with the news that she was expecting. She was two months in, apparently. After eight years of marriage, they believed that they were ready to add someone else to their world.

"Shut the hell up!" she shouted in a hysterical frenzy. Margo couldn't understand why her best friend was suddenly yelling at the top of her lungs with a deranged look, having a complete nervous breakdown. All the people around them noticed the show. It was killing everyone's vibe. No one lifted a finger to help or even show empathy to the distressed young woman, though. People went to nightclubs to party, not to be inconvenienced by weirdos.
