Hi I'm Joe Patterson. I am a writer at heart who is a big geek for film, music, and literature, which have all inspired me to be a writer. I rap, write stories both short and long, and I'm also aspiring to be an author and a filmmaker.

Like What You See
The mirror showed a reflection that wasn’t my own. Boy was it ever so scary. As I stared in this mirror my heart raced at a speed of what felt like a thousand miles an hour. My mind was racing with a million questions, the biggest one being why. I was looking in the mirror, but there was no reflection of self looking back at me. Instead, it was the face of a beautiful woman with black hair that went down to her shoulders. She was wearing a cardigan with black and white stripes that was covered in dirt.

Vocal Challenges: We All Win
It’s always exciting isn’t it? As a Vocal writer we see a new challenge posted and we can’t wait to get those home keys rolling so we can type our way into winning a challenge. It’s actually very fun to me. I love entering these challenges as much as I can to go for the gold, but naturally there is a big dose of disappointment that comes with these challenges. Let’s be real, 98% of us have never won a challenge, another 80% of us have never even been a runner up. As much as it seems like a big let down when you don’t win a challenge, I’m here to tell you why no matter how many times you don’t end up being a finalist in a challenge, you are still winning.

It’s the summer of 1997 and me and my big sister are over my dad’s house for the weekend. My dad shares a place with my uncle who lets me and my sister watch a lot of his movies in his room, the main movie we watched over and over again was Scream (1996).

Scream: The series that revived the Slasher genre
The slasher genre has always been its own unique sub culture of horror films. From its humbled beginnings of Psycho (1960) from Alfred Hitchcock and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) from Tobe Hopper, to its golden age glory years of Halloween (1978), Friday the 13th (1980) and A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). There is just something about a horror villain with a blade who just snaps that really joneses horror fans.

Hip Hop Forever
This year marks the 50th birth year of Hip-Hop culture. I swear it feels like Hip Hop has been around much longer than that, well actually, it has been around a lot longer than most people realize. Hip Hop has helped to shape my life and mold me into the person I am today, so I had to write a tribute to Hip Hop during its 50 birthday, an ode to the music and culture which not only shaped me, but so many others like me.
