How to get a Top Story
At least most of us know the feeling right? That moment when you’re checking your Vocal notifications, you start reading the comment section on one of your latest stories and you see people congratulating you on your top story. A rush of energy and dopamine overwhelms your emotions. You’re like a little kid inside all over again and you have a cheesy grin on your face that’s forced it’s way there and refuses to leave. Yeah, that’s top story energy.

Black Music Month Celebrates: Tina Turner
Her birth name was Anna Mae Bullock, but the world will forever remember her as Tina Turner, the queen of Rock and Roll. Born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26th, 1939, Tina Turner hailed from Brownsville, Tennessee. She was the youngest of three sisters, including Evelyn and Ruby and came from a family of sharecroppers. Tina’s older sister Evelyn later died in a car accident with two of her cousins. As a young girl Tina ended up living with her strictly Christian grandparents after her family relocated. The strict environment of Christianity that she was surrounded by while living with her grandparents played a big role in the duration of Tina’s life. By the age of 11 Tina started singing in her church choir. This move played a big role on her path to musicianship.

When Nicole Moore Macon (Peggy) adopted me in love in 2017, her family also became my family. She has four children: two boys and two girls. Though I already had sisters, I now had more, but I never really had any little brothers before. Now I do and one of those little brothers is Nicole’s youngest son, JR.
