Sanity Will Never Be in the Way of the Daredevil Me
The next morning once I opened my eyes my first thought was “Where is my map? Where could I go today?” And this started another conversation in my mind between the spontaneous me and the wisdom “Oh no, today you aren’t going anywhere, but straight to Sydney! You have to make it pass Sydney if you want to catch the ferry in couple of days!” “Yes, I know, but I just have a look where I could stop on the way” “No, you know everything takes you at least twice as long as you think and you are always late!” “No, it’s not so bad… Just a little bit…” As usually sanity and rationality had no chances to convince the enthusiastic and daredevil me. I started looking at the map and decided to ride along the coast on the Ocean Drive and follow the Tourist Drive 10 to Kew. “It will take you at least double as long to get there as it would on the highway…” – whispered the sanity, but… nope, no chances, nothing could put me off my idea.

They Thought I Lost My Mind...
It was December 2007, exactly 7 months after Andy left me and my life got turned upside down. My financial situation was slightly better than in the first couple of months, nonetheless far away from good. I was riddled with debts (especially after I took huge loan to buy a motorbike), struggled to survive, and had not much hope for a better future. I was devastated and I couldn't care less if I was alive or dead. So what do you do as a single lady with no money and nothing to lose? Yes, exactly, take the bike and go to the sunset. I decided to go to Tasmania. My family and friends declare me crazy and suggested that instead of riding the motorbike I should seek psychiatric help.

How to overcome the vicious circle of negativity
Someone asked me once: “Why am I so negative? Why everything seems to be going against me?” I didn't know that person, it was just a stranger I met on some social media, so I couldn't directly answer their question, but it made me think about people in general. It really seems some people have much more “good luck” in life than others.

Keep smiling even if life doesn't go to plan
We all know that life never goes to plan. We do our best and then suddenly something comes in the way and we discover difficulties. In my previous post I described my "water transfer" project which I did that particular weekend. It seemed everything went well, but… as I suspected, there was a "surprise" waiting for me. The following Monday a friend visited me and we went for a walk to the little dam. I looked at the trough and it was only 80% full. I checked the water tank and surely enough the water wasn't getting out of the tank. "Oh well, that's a job for the next weekend" - I thought to myself and continued enjoying the walk with my friend. What should I do? I didn't have enough time to fix it, and worrying and stressing about it surely wouldn't help.

Whatever you do make sure you enjoy it!
In everyday life we tend to give importance to affairs which actually don't really matter. We stress about the little things, we get annoyed with our chores and easily disappointed because life doesn't go to plan. We wait for big special events to bring us joy, yet never see the beauty surrounding us. It's more important for us to "be right" and have everything "our way" instead of understanding others and enjoy their company. It's easier for us to find all the reasons why we can't be happy, instead of enjoying what we have. But is it really the best way of living? Isn't life about fulfillment and happiness more than it is about "being right"? I believe our happiness and how content we are with our life depends mostly on our mindset, how we approach everyday life and our surrounding.

If you can dream it, you can do it
On 24 of January 2006, for the first time I put my foot on the driest continent on Earth. What an amazing and bewildering day it was, such a mix of emotions. No words can describe how excited I was to see my dreams come true, to travel to the exotic country I new only from some TV shows, not to mention to be joining Andy in the country of our dreams. I couldn’t wait to see him after so many months of separation. On the other hand, however, there was some apprehension, some fear of the unknown. What if things didn’t go well with Andy? What if he broke up with me again? Who would help me? I didn’t know anybody there, I didn’t have any money or job or contacts, I was fully depended on him… All I had was a tourist visa, without work permit and with “No Further Stay” condition. Nonetheless deep inside I knew coming here was the right decision, I knew everything would be all right. I could sense it wouldn’t be easy, many things wouldn’t go to plan and I would go through a lot of difficulties, but I knew at the end everything would be all right. In this foreign and unknown place I felt home, I knew it was were I belonged.
