H2
Halloween was a week away. Decorations were up and had already taken over the town. People were celebrating the Harvest season. Relaxed with cider. apples and doughnuts. I could not wait for the party, I was invited to. Many of my friends would be there. Even the best of Boston. The guy all the girls wanted. Johnny. It was going to be held 10 miles into the country. An abandon house with a large yard. We had a generator so there would be lots of music. Even lighting. Although the cops did not care if we hung out. Some said, they were just chicken to even go there. The town was spooked from the hearsay hauntings. There were nights, I could not sleep. Up thinking of the strange things, I had heard. I was still excited for the party. Sure things would be just fine. This was Halloween. We were going to have a blast!

The Long Thaw
Winter had been long and near from over. Currently was heavily snowing and the winds were 35 miles per hour. I looked out the window and could barely see the street. It was mid February. Football had ended a few weeks ago, with the Colts defeating the Cowboys 16-13. A field goal. 5 seconds left in the game led them to victory. 1971 was in my senior year of high school. Hoped to leave for Penn State in the fall. There I would be taking Criminal Justice and Forensics classes. As for today, there was no school. My buddies and I were going to get our sleds out and head to Buckingham Pond. Many were headed down to the back roads to race. We were going to hit some trails. Maybe flee across the pond. The snowmobile market was at it's peak during this season. Sometimes the cops would try to hound us, but sure they were in on the fun. The pond was familiar to the town. Others would be ice skating and playing in the park. We would keep our distance. Buckingham Pond was long and stretched through woods. The skaters would complain the ice was bumpy. It's natural for ice to freeze this way. Tales were told, the ice formed this way because of a witch had put a curse on the forest. It's said her water boat had sunk to the bottom. No one is quite sure what happened to her. Soon as this pond thaws. We were going to fish around for clues.

The Old Barn
Not far from Canadian Border. 1851…We had arrived in America, on King Ahab’s ship. There was a total of 15 of us and my grandfather’s goat. Gavelle- our goat was about 3 years old. He was very special to Jebo, my grandfather. We would have to find land, plentiful enough for him to run free and we could build a shelter. The ship was as long as five cars. We unloaded our wagons and horses. Stacked the preserves and linen on the back. Gavelle was jumping up and down. Enough of these waters. It had been a week. Traveled from the Mediterranean. We followed some railroad tracks and chose a plot of land not far from the tracks. Set up camp and decided to start building in the morning. We would tear apart the ship. Using the lumber to build the barn and furniture.

The Watermill
Was Springtime. The grass was still slightly soft, but we were able to enjoy the day wearing our T-shirts and dresses now. It was the early 19th century. I was in my late 20's with three children. Was full-blooded Iroquois. Experiencing the New World each day. I had married, the son of Lester Howe. An explorer in the Mohawk Valley, of New York. Lester had built a business, sort of museum called Howe Caverns. It was a tourist attraction for many. An underground gem. My husband Chester and I occasionally took a canoe ride in the little river through parts of the cave. I had met a magical man. His father studied magic, a few times during the week. Told him, this will help him everyday and to never forget what powers you really have.
