Tale of the Liverpool Stones

Fiction/Fantasy

I had to let Francis out the bathroom. What else could possibly go wrong? I’m trying to enforce magic and healing. He’s trying to steal it. The boys will get the message. Too many issues if they intruded looking for him. His phone rang. It was Zack…

“What’s up? It’s Marissa. Francis went home. Left his phone on the couch. If he comes back, I’ll tell him you called.”

“Marissa, are you serious? Where’s my boy? I’ve been calling him for 2 days. I know you think I’m a bad influence sometimes, but Francis and I have been best friends since the 3rd grade.”

“Zack, Francis is not here. Probably has a lot going on at work.”

“Okay, talk you later…” He hung up. I could tell he didn’t believe me.

I ran back downstairs and knocked on the door.

“Francis, I’m going to slip a piece of paper under the door. Please tell me where the antique is. The stones were put there by a very powerful sorceress. You should tell me where they are. Great Spirits of Destiny lay in them. You don’t know the type of magic you’re playing with.”

“Why are you accusing me? I know you like Leo. You sure it’s not him?”

“Francis, the camera clearly showed it was you. I let you slide on the Spanish articles- Now tell me who has them.”

“Okay Princess, they’re in a box in my trunk. Let me out and I’ll go grab them. You can even come with me.”

A knock at the door. It was Zack. So, Marissa. My boy’s car is parked in the C lot. I know you know where he is.

“Omg- Zack- Help me! She’s crazy. Haunted Rocks of Destiny.”

“I’m so confused.” Marissa let him in.

Zack noticed something flashing on the counter. Marissa had set up this whole interrogation. She explained-Francis had just admitted to stealing her exhibit. If I was loud, the stones could really cause bad. Instead of healing. They are not for the Hennigers. Things must change.

“Francis, I swear to forgive you. Why must Henniger make you this way? Henniger was a street gang. North side of the city. The diamonds are already on their way back to me. Once I set you free. You can run.”

“How Babe? You really stole my car? What did you do to me? What day is it?”

“Thursday, it’s Thirsty Thursday. C’mon, let’s go. Marissa let him out. You said the stones are coming back.”

“Francis, sent my stones to some Aphostle in the Royal Caribbean. They haven’t made it far. Jake works at the warehouse. Right when the mailman comes back.”

“Ya Bro- We have to wait for the Postman and then you owe me a shot.” Marissa gave him a few as she paced around the cream living room. The door knocked.

“Her other boyfriend is here to buy the stones lol.”

Francis started banging on the door. Marissa was carrying around the paper he’d written on. 2015 Chevy Impala. Backseat/Hatch.

“Just what I wanted.”

The stones sparkled energy into the air. I put the box in the cupboard and locked it shut. Down the hallway to where my prisoner was. Took a few tries, but the door opened. Francis sat on the floor. He back against the wall. All my towels were on the floor. Most certainly learned his lesson.

“What have you gotten me into? You..Your Magical flowers, Loopy Uncles. Djinn rocks. Girl- please. You think people will use healing? It’s Henniger.”

“That’s their decision. For years, I chased the truth. You see what’s upon us. What was intended. The emblems are just the beginning. Why are you seeing things?”

“Exactly, and that’s why Leo and I are leaving. I’ll call you later. Don’t call the cops.”

Christmas was days away. The Museum had a tour later. Decided to buy Wooden rabbits to hold the stone. Rabbits were an omen of Good Luck and New Beginnings. He’s lucky he gave them back. They belong in the Museum. All for the New World. Well bye. I have to clean up for the Party.

The phone rings. “Marissa, I’m coming to the tour. Me and my pals are interested in your Egyptian Magic. Willing to pay 50,000 if your spell helps me later at the Casino.”

“Wow, I will most definitely work on that for you. Can I get your name?”

“Louis- See you laterz.”

That was strange. It was soon 6:00pm. The bus arrived. They came from NYC. Looked around for Louis. He sounded Italian, Moroccan or something. There were some older gentleman off in the Eagle Wing. Wanted to follow them, but hung tight in the foyee for a bit. Some inner city kids were over by the wands. Singing and dancing. I picked up my walky talky voicing to Tasha-

There was a tap on my arm. Next to me was a male in his 30s, black jacket, Mets hat and black timberland.

“I’m Louis. This are my friends Sadie and Keith. We are visiting for the weekend. Planning our trip to the Grande Royal Casino in the morning. I have been told you possess stones. That grant wishes and luck.”

“They are from many generations ago. I may show you this way.” I walked to the right. Passing the Wildcat exhibit we were at the Gem Forest.

“Can you see them?”

Sadie replied…”By the wooden rabbit.”

“Yes, now may I have the 10,000 dollar down payment?”

Louis looked in the air. Waving his hands up, as if he was speaking to the sky. Keith nudged him. Louis went in his pocket and pulled out the check.

“Here, snap a picture of it for the transfer.”

I took the check and placed it on the table. Spent the extra $2.50 so it would be available immediately. The check cleared.

“Wonderful, now come this way.” The three of them sat on the wooden benches. Plants and sun catchers filled the room. Marissa handed the stones to Louis. Chimed a bell around him. Humming a chant. Freeing the magic. They all took turns. Kissing, holding the stones high. Then returning them to their spot. On the diagram layout.

“Thank you so much. Please keep me updated on the Casino. Talk to you soon.” Sadie hugged me. I waved as they left out the door. Wow. Ten grand. I’m definitely not telling Francis, or anyone til I see how the games went.

It was nearing 1:00pm when the phone rang. Unknown caller. “Hello, Liverpool Museum.”

“Thank you, My little Elf.”
