Memories, Mourning, and Vodka Pasta. Second Place in Food for the Soul Challenge.
As a foodie and a kid-at-heart, I’m a big fan of the movie Ratatouille. It takes the Disney staple of an unlikely hero with a dream, then adds beautiful animation, the magic of Paris, and the soulful experience of a delicious meal. In other words, it's my personal kryptonite. My favorite scene is when food critic Anton Ego first tastes Remy's ratatouille. Pinning a notoriously judgmental food critic against a rat chef presents a David and Goliath battle with the odds against our protagonist. But, when Ego takes his first bite, it’s magic.

A Hard Pill to Swallow: How The Umbrella Academy Depicts Prescription Medication
I had mixed feelings when I first learned that The Umbrella Academy would be coming back to Nextflix on July 31st. On one hand, I remembered how excited I was when I first read the series’ description. A superhero show inspired by Gerard Way’s comic book series sounded like Netflix snuck into my brain to fuse my love of superheroes with my love of angsty 2000s pop-rock. I expected something fun and fast-paced. I hoped for beautifully choreographed fight scenes set to a killer soundtrack. And Netflix delivered. I could watch superheroes foil a bank robbery with Fitz and The Tantrums playing in the background all day.

Money Can't Buy Self-Love
When I started selling luxury accessories at Barneys, I was immediately self-conscious. I sheepishly displayed belts that cost more than my rent and tried to smile through comments about what a “good deal” a thousand-dollar purse was. How could I convince customers to trust me when their dogs sported more expensive raincoats than I wore? I was a pre-makeover Anne Hathaway, but with no hope of Stanley Tucci saving me with a pair of Chanel boots.
