CHAPTER ONE Donny and the girl rounded the corner on their way home from school. Donny had started first grade a few weeks before, and his mom had told him to walk his neighbor home after school “like a gentleman”. He liked the idea of taking on such a responsibility. He was told to hold the girl’s hand and carry her books, which did prove tiresome, having to maneuver both their books around from one hand to the other.
