"Travel and Music: An Untold Story"
It was around 11 pm. I was driving on the highway, the city lights had gone off and there was only a dark road ahead with headlights shining from a distance. The journey was long, I am very fond of music. My journey cannot be complete without music. I have FM in my car on which I keep listening to my favorite songs. Suddenly a song played on FM which made my night memorable and refreshed my old memories - "Jab hum jawan honge, jaane kahan honge". This song from the Hindi film 'Betaab' refreshed years old memories and I was lost in my old memories. I had gone back to the days of twenty years ago. A different atmosphere was created inside my car. Slow beats, light guitar tunes and a feeling of unknown sadness along with the dark road - a perfect combination. The memories and the lyrics of the song were matching each other. My journey continued with the lyrics of the song but along with that sadness also spread on my face. And this was also because every word of the song was hurting my heart. After all, it was a matter of the heart. My playlist started showing its colours. With the song, it felt like I was reliving my old life. I was completely lost in it. The musical waves of the song were mixing with my thoughts. I started remembering my college days. There was a girl among my friends. I started loving her from the heart. Our talks never went beyond friendship. We could never express our love. In those days, the atmosphere was not as open as it is today. Loving each other was not considered good, so we could not even tell each other. My love for her grew so much that every evening I used to play cricket with my friends in the field in front of her house. My only purpose was to gaze at her as much as possible. I was satisfied just by looking at her to my heart's content. Her name was Java. It was a strange name but I liked it. Maybe she also loved me. When we used to play cricket, she used to come and sit in the balcony of the house. At that time, this song used to play in her house. Every line of the song was telling the story of the past and my incomplete love. Maybe Java also realized this or not. I don't know but one thing is for sure that the line of the song 'Jab hum jawan hue to jaane kahan honge' was absolutely correct. After some time we suddenly moved from that place to another city. We never got a chance to meet each other again. And our story also stopped there. I don't know if she remembers it now or not. But whenever I listen to such songs, the memories take me to my past. This song seemed like a story and every beat was connecting me to my old memories. The journey was long, but this playlist was giving a new feeling at every mile. Finally I reached close to the city remembering my incomplete love. The light was visible again, the song had also ended now. My chain of thoughts was now ending. I returned back to my present. Now I also have a family, which is dedicated to me. Old memories are a thing of the past. But there was still a little pang left inside me which this playlist gave. Music is not just for listening, it takes us to a feeling. And that night, the highway, the moonlight and my playlist together wrote a story that seemed complete even without words. But now I have to live in the present. Thinking this, my sadness was replaced by a smile.
