Introduction to Astronomy
Professor Dave here, and I want to discuss the universe with you. Of all the qualities that define us as human, our relentless pursuit of knowledge may be the most defining. We are never content with the unknown, always searching, always trying to make sense of our surroundings and our place within them. One of the most awe-inspiring aspects of the human experience has been the simple act of gazing up at the night sky. Today, we understand a great deal about stars, planets, and galaxies, yet the sight remains profoundly captivating. Imagine, however, looking up at that same night sky thousands of years ago, with no comprehension of what those distant points of light could be. What are these celestial objects? What is the universe as a whole, and just how vast is it? Is it truly infinite? Where did everything, including us, originate? These are the grandest questions that humanity has dared to ponder, and from this perplexity, this gnawing curiosity that arose each time the sun set, the first science, astronomy, was born.

The History of The Philippines Before Magellan (3000 BCE - 1521 CE)
On this article I'm going to share to you some interesting facts about Philippines. The Philippines is an archipelago situated in the Pacific Ocean, comprising over seven thousand islands. It lies on a subduction zone within the geologically active Ring of Fire, which extends from Japan to Alaska and California, making the islands mineral-rich but also prone to destructive earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Of the 7,000 islands, only around 1,000 are inhabited, most of them small, roughly one square mile in size. The archipelago is divided into three main island groups: Luzon in the north, the Visayas in the center, and Mindanao in the south. Luzon, home to the capital Manila, is the most populous.

Trisomy 21
What is Trisomy 21? Trisomy 21 is the most common chromosomal anomaly in humans, affecting about 5,000 babies born each year and more than 350,000 people in the United States. Also known as Down syndrome, trisomy 21 is a genetic condition caused by an extra chromosome. Most babies inherit 23 chromosomes from each parent, for a total of 46 chromosomes. Babies with Down syndrome however, end up with three chromosomes at position 21, instead of the usual pair. Trisomy 21 is the most common, occurring in 1 out of every 691 births. The disorder was first identified in 1866 by John Langdon Down, a British physician, and later named after him.

If You Know These Essential Tips, You Can Survive Pretty Much Anything
When seeking assistance in public, approach individuals rather than groups. This is due to the bystander effect, where people in groups are less likely to help as they assume others will assist. If you suspect a car is following you on a grid-like road, make four right or left turns. If the car does too, you're likely being tailed. Don't go home - try to lose them. If caught outside in a storm and your hair stands on end, immediately find shelter. This static indicates lightning may strike you. If no shelter's available, crouch low with your head between your knees to minimize contact with the ground.

Why They Stopped Building Statues on Easter Island
Easter Island is one of the most isolated islands in the world. Once, it was covered with forests filled with different trees and ferns. But when the first humans came to the island around 400 CE, the forests slowly began to disappear. And starting from 1250 CE, Moai Statues began appearing all over the place. People made them from different types of rock: compressed volcanic ash, basalt, trachyte, and red scoria.

How Filipino Breads Are Made Fresh Every Morning in this Traditional Bakery in Quezon
Our life's journey can be compared to making bread - we start from humble beginnings. Just as dough rises during the baking process, our lives also expand over time. My name is Pablito Casiño. I own this bakery, although I have passed ownership to my four children. Yeast enables the bread to rise and grow. This bakery was founded by my parents. They told me my father started baking in 1944. My father created all the recipes, initially selling pandesal and bonete breads. At first, my father did the baking while my mother managed the storefront with our assistance, despite our young age. Since I was 10, I observed the bakery's daily operations. I used to help my father prepare the dough for baking. Even in high school, I continued assisting him, allowing me to learn and master all his recipes and techniques. Initially, it was a family-run enterprise. However, as demand increased, running it alone became challenging, so we hired additional staff.

Worst maid abuse case in Singapore. Content Warning.
Domestic workers and servants often migrate from poor backgrounds in search of better opportunities in more prosperous nations. They leave their homes to earn a living in foreign lands with stronger currencies. While many people treat them kindly, some mistreat them. Maids worldwide frequently endure inhumane treatment from employers, including verbal abuse, demanding schedules, and even physical violence. Most cases go unreported, but some become so extreme they cannot remain hidden. Today we examine one particularly disturbing case of maid abuse that shocked the public and judges alike.
