The Trip of a Lifetime. Top Story - October 2021.
It’s almost Halloween and the haunting memories from that night five years ago are back again. Every year since that trip, around this time, the nightmares caused by that night return and transport me back in time. I know in my heart that the things I saw on that day were not real and just tricks played on my mind by the incredibly well-planned set-up of the party and whatever the hell it was that Tony dropped in our drinks.

The Body Builder
I didn't know the truth of his story until it was much too late. He never told me that they were one and the same, both sides of the same coin. He never said to me that the beautiful side and the ugly side were never seen together or that the appearance of the ugly side meant that she was coming to claim another part in her quest to build the body she would need to re-enter our world. For a very long time, every quarter-century, she would appear and resume the taking as she needed to take different parts from different people for the curse to be broken, allowing her to re-enter the world of the living as a Goddess.

The Fire at Freedom Pond Park
He didn't plan on watching it burn, but he couldn't help himself. The plan was to get the fire started, then escape back the way he’d come; across the frozen pond to the small park, which opened onto Water street, and then three blocks south to the small side street where he'd left the car. But as he got to the edge of the pond, he turned back to look at the fire and couldn't leave. He needed to watch it burn, but most of all, he wanted to hear their screams.

The Old Man
“I hope he's not standing there again today," Jack thought as he turned the corner. Jack and Tina had only been here for five weeks, getting accustomed to their new jobs and the new apartment. They’d met when they were both in their final year of university and, after a whirlwind romance, moved into a small apartment downtown after graduation. After living in their first apartment for a few months and realizing that they couldn't afford to stay downtown any longer, they packed up and moved to the city's east end. They moved here for two reasons. The rent was much more affordable in this part of the city, and they could be closer to Jack's parents as his father was not well and spending a lot of time in and out of the hospital close to the new apartment.

Family
Alexander never understood or felt true love until she entered his life and altered its course. Mary worked as a receptionist at the factory, where Alex worked as a welder, and they rode the same bus to work each morning. Each day they would walk from the bus stop to the factory together and had become good friends. He looked forward to seeing her every workday morning and would wish the hours away every weekend in anticipation of seeing her again on Monday.
