The Good Stuff. Content Warning.
Randall narrowed his eyes to the bump of his nose as he stumbled down the narrow alley. The putrid stench of old eggs and dirty diapers wafted through the haze of mist coming from the window units of the apartments. Dizzy from the hit, he slumped down between the brick wall and an overflowing dumpster as he choked back the taste of acidic bile and pepperoni pizza. The moisture created by the air conditioning units made the air heavy on his leathery skin. He crawled through the ripped bags of garbage and broken bottles that littered the alley, crouching under the windows until the last of the television lights dimmed. Few boxes and newspapers were dry enough to compose a makeshift shelter until the morning. Randall curled his body into a ball as he swatted the flies and maggots off the cuff of his grimy jeans. His eyes watered with the regret of picking the first heat wave of the Georgia summer to start up old habits. Eventually, he nodded off long enough to wait out his last night on earth.

Heroes of The Valley
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Some people still don’t believe there are any here. However, over the years, Sun Valley's population tripled as the Tessies took over the rest of Los Angeles. Tessies are the trillionaires who inherited the city at its worst. Employment dropped to single digit numbers, families were abandoning their homes and adapting to multigenerational living accommodations which no longer carried the stigma of moving home to mom and dad.

Ballads
Sweat dripped down my brow and burned the inner corners of my eyes. The cold wind slapped against my clammy skin. The frigid air burned my lungs. I felt phenomenal. I chased the runner’s high. I immersed myself in this new activity and the rush and sense of accomplishment boosted my long suffering self esteem. Periwinkle and peach marbled the late evening sky. I loved to run during this time of day. Southern climates tend to be unforgiving towards outdoor activities. .

Damsels
An inviting warm beam pierces through the singular narrow window of the dreary concrete cell, disturbing the peaceful slumber of the inhabitant. Two long legs swing over the edge of the foam mattress and gnarled feet stomp onto the floor with enough force to make the small beam dance against the slate wall. A woman unfurls from her coiled position in the corner stretching her arms over her head. Her fists scrape against the unfinished ceiling causing debris to crumble over her matted brown hair. After extending and cracking her lengthy spine, she slumps over and hugs her growling stomach.

Wolves Clothing
The actress Bianca Howell flourished from a young age, and by the age of 52 the notorious star had appeared in over a hundred films and a handful of TV appearances to maintain a level of approachability. Born into a dynasty not defined by its glamour, Bianca's family attempted to radiate grace and poise to overshadow the source of their inherited wealth. So as a matter of pride it was an expectation they would never simply be the children of a pig farmer.

Red Lipstick Gang
As I write this on my gray sectional, sturdy and held together with duct tape and love, I look over to my amazing, talented roommate and disclose that I am writing my next piece about my mother. I don’t know what that's going to mean for my mood, but there will be many emotions over the next few days.

Lovely to Meet You
“Ideally, you would wait until after dinner service to attempt suicide.” Sean sits me down in the front seat of his doorless jeep. His attempts to make me laugh distract me enough to ignore the throbbing pain coming from my fresh wound. The Doc in a Box is only a few blocks up the road Sean drives recklessly, like you'd imagine a man with a doorless jeep would drive.
