Day of the Dragon: A Painter’s Masterpiece
A piece of a five-part non-chronological series centred around the day of the dragon. __________________ Wall Agassi encircles the city of Gallina. Nine years the stonemasons spent toiling in its construction and here it stands, towering 25ft tall and wide enough to sport three horses walking abreast. It is an architectural marvel, perfectly designed to allow the flow of the river through the city without compromising safety. The impenetrable ring carries the name of Walter Agassi, a man revered for his contribution to the city while holding a Seat of Nobles.

Why is it that bugs fly to a flame? I thought it was the light. We are fickle things, bumbling in the darkness most of our lives, so when a beacon lights, we float toward it without thinking. We don’t know the source of the light beaming brightly in the night, nor the consequence of following it, but the journey draws us.

He is a restless ruler, perhaps even impatient, so Tec feels her mouth turn dry and her heart quicken with nervousness as she waits for him to speak. She wishes she could tilt her head to seek the face of her mentor in the hall, but she remains frozen with her head dipped and eyes trained on the ornate floor.

Bittersweet Tower
A woman well into her eighties, Nancy has enjoyed her fair share of sweets in her time. Vanilla slice with thick and creamy filling, her famous caramelised banana split, her Christmas trifle filled with cream, jelly, sponge, custard and a heavy helping of sherry, lollipops, candies, crumbly shortbread biscuits, marshmallows, every Halloween delight under the sun... you name it and she has baked it or eaten it. In fact, her family and friends from the bowling club praise her for her prowess in the kitchen.
