Happy Matricide
"You gave birth to your own death," Electra Euripides warned mothers of homicidal maniacs. By and large, society is still shocked when a child kills their mother. The female parent is still, by and large, considered a beloved member of the family surpassed in the love metric by only grandmothers. Still, not every mother is created equal; while some are kind and loving, others are evil and out for themselves. It's all a matter of perception and analyzing their action. 22-year-old Jared Eng thought that his mother was evil, though publicly he denies this because she threatened his inheritance. Would that lead him to kill his mother? Prosecutors say yes and allege that his girlfriend, along with another friend, helped him move the body.

Mean Girl Murder
"In a way, bullying is an ordinary evil. It's hugely prevalent, all too often ignored—and being ignored, it is therefore condoned." What an incredible quote from Trudie Styler. Bullying today has changed from the past. Now bullies can use social media and texting to get their messages across to their victims. Michelle Carter did this with Conrad Roy. She exploited the crush he had on her, and then cruelly taunted him about not going through with his planned suicide. Until he did. Now those insults and texts encouraging him to take his own life have landed the teen a guilty verdict and a sentence of 15 months in jail.

All Hail Queen Clapback
"I'll dog walk you," Cardi B warned Tomi Lahren on Twitter after the Fox News (no) personality attempted to drag her. It was a good way to get the talentless female to back off of her, but if Cardi B wants to be considered a political force of nature, she needs to consider watching Nancy Pelosi. As she reclaimed the Speaker of the House Gavel, Pelosi also seems to have found her, and by extension the Democrats, backbone. Now it can safely be said that Nancy Pelosi is the Queen of the Clapback, and she "dog walked" Donald Trump without ever laying a hand on him.

Pieces of Me
"I specialize in murders of quiet, domestic interest," Agatha Christie said when asked about her books. The case of Lisa Marie Velasquez is one that would have made a great book if Christie had written it. Sadly, what happened to Lisa was real life and reminiscent of an earlier event in her childhood. All she wanted to do was help her friend, and in return, she was murdered and cut up. Who says friendship is worthless nowadays?

Triggered
I am a survivor of domestic abuse. When most people learn that they are surprised. More than once I have been told that I don't act like a "victim," my attitude is too bad, or I appear to be too strong to let someone hit me. The truth of the matter is, that's not how abuse works. It wouldn't matter if I was Mr. Universe with the will of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, if someone wants to bring you down, they will. It's a matter of how they do it.

Email My Alibi
Does anyone believe that murderers tell the truth? After putting together Love You to Death, a true crime book, I can safely say that answer is no. However, one Manhattan man takes the lying game to a whole new level of scumminess. Roderick Colvin tried to set his daughter, who happens to only be 9-years-old, up for the murder of his wife. Father of the year is already decided fellas, maybe next year.

The Haunting of Fordham University (Pt. 1)
"Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win," Stephen King has said. Who better than the King (pardon the pun) of horror to bring us into a ghost story? In New York City, there are plenty of scary tales to tell. Rent for apartments is enough to create an entire horror movie franchise from, but the real scares come from a local University. Fordham University is known as a school of excellence in academic, it is also known as a school where the ghosts will come for you. Here are just some of the ghosts and paranormal events that have happened in the school's dorms in the Bronx!

Writer Create Thy Self
"You have such great characterization." That's a compliment I get a lot for my novels and short stories. Part of that is because going into a story, I know who the characters are, and their complete backgrounds. Recently I signed up for a new RPG with a friend of a friend, and the DM sent out the character sheets. My first thought was why is this in a foreign language. My next thought was that my friend had better be prepared to help me. He was and did. And I still messed up.

Hypocrisy U
A few years ago, there was a furor over a baker refusing to bake a cake for a gay couple. Those that supported the baker said that forcing him to bake the cake would infringe on the constitutional and religious rights that the country allows him. Yet that support seems to be very one-sided because when someone they agree with is denied service, those same people are up in arms and throwing fits about what is right and what is wrong. It's no longer a personal choice because their rights are being violated.

Nancy Pelosi Isn't Here for Trump
"Nancy Pelosi is a badass." That sentiment is flashing across Facebook and Twitter feeds around the world right now. On January 16, Pelosi let Trump know that she would be cutting off his big State of the Union speech if the government remained closed. Trump decided that throwing a tantrum and canceling Pelosi's trip to see the troops in a combat area was the right way to deal with her. It has backfired and Pelosi is now regaining the respect of Democrats and more moderate Republicans alike.
