Dear Diary, I want to tell you about how I found myself right back at home.
It's funny how life can bring you back to places you've been before, even when you didn't know you needed it. When I first moved to New York in 2019, I knew I was searching for something. And considering I didn't have a job, didn't know many people, and then with the world shutting down…well, let's just say I had a lot of time to start figuring out what that was.

Dear Diary, I want to tell you about the other guys I dated in New York.
Since Pride is over now, I thought it might be entertaining to reminisce on my final attempts at dating men. These took place over the course of the month, in late 2019, leading up to my last date ever with a man, a story I shared earlier this year.

Dear Diary, I want to tell you about the debt spiral I was in.
I had been in bad debt for 3 or 4 years when I realized I was in so deep that I didn’t know how to get out on my own. …by 2022 I had maxed out a few credit cards, took out a loan to pay them all off, and then maxed them out again…3 times. This equaled about $60k worth of credit card and personal loans, and I was drowning under it all.

Dear Diary, I want to tell you about the last day I dated men.
October, 2019 I had only been in New York for 3 months. And I was on a date that was the end of a string of several dates with men that were all incredibly underwhelming. This particular one was exceptionally bad: he was boring. An hour and a half in, I found an excuse to get out of it and left. But I looked cute, it was only 8pm on a Thursday, which is still so early in New York City, and I was not ready to end my night. Plus, I was disheartened with the NYC dating scene, and I needed a drink.
